Parrot Car Kits

Featured Replies

I've managed to get a good price from a local supplier on parrot car kits, and while i'm also considering a Sony Ericson kit i would like to know owners opinions on these two kits:

- CK3100

- CK3200

Obviously i know there is the colour screen which seems to be the major difference, but are there any other major difference i should kow about.

What is the audio quality like, and if anybody has a 3200 wher eis the microphone, is it still a seperate componant as per on the 3100.

Does anyone know if there is enough lead to mount the micrphone up on the sunroof trim or similar.

Thanks.

there is no difference at all between these two kits apart from the colour screen. How much have you been quoted on these kits

Approximately £100 and £125 inc VAT. Would collect and Fit it myself so no P&P or fitting costs.

I got my 31K online for £78 including VAT and del a year ago. It's a bit of a fiddle to fit as there's a mass of wiring. But the parrot stuff is great and I wouldn't use any other handsfree kit

This is mine installed

Got my CK3100 for £70 + p&p from Ebay. It was easy to fit to my superb as it has power under the dash and plenty of room. The only trouble I had was getting the sat nav back in the double din slot sue to the ammount of wires. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the unit and would deffinatley have another one. Don't think the colour screen is worth while at the extra cost and the size makes it more tempting for a thief

Just realised. I've moved the screen since the pic above. I get another one taken tonight

Here's mine. Pictures not good as it was dark when taken

Here's mine in my octy.....

breaking with tradition (sorry) installation was fine, operation is good but I get a lot of signal noise on the MFD2 when using it, updated firmware / tried different phones ... no joy.

Parrot Car kits. Where do I start ...

I am on my third CK3200 and to be frank if you are using anything other than a Nokia you are looking at grief. We have a lot fitted in the car fleet (Around 200) and we have had a lot of problems with them even with firmware updates, it will drop connection, get funky with phone books, intermittant sound quality, the list goes on and on...

A good deal at the moment is the Nokia CK7w which although is a basic bluetooth kit (No display) is

I've never had any problems with 4 different types of phone. I've currently got my PEBL and Nokia 6151 paired with it and never had an issue. Previous phones have been sony/ericson k800i and a nokia 6021

Oh and here's where I ended up putting mine

parrot.jpg

Got a Parrot 3200 LCD installed yesterday (along with a Blaupunkt Memphis headunit). Seems alright so far, but doesn't synchronise contacts automagically with my LG Chocolate. Not much of a problem, as I still have my old phone with all my contacts in it, which should work.

I have yet to spend any length of time playing with it though.

auroan,

How did you mount your display there as that was exactly how I was thinking of mounting the kit I was going to get.

I have to admit I do have a nokia CK7 kicking around somewhere, however that already has a home and I do really want to get one with a display.

Does the 3200 have the microphone built into the colour face or is it still a sepearate unit, and if so can it be mounted above the display as per the 3100.

Thanks

One thing to watch for with the 3100 is that the wiring is ........ well ....... how can I put it ......... ****!!!

If you put a tight bend on the cable going into the display it will pop it's cable clamp out then the internal connections work loose. I have had 2 displays now and on the second one I stripped it and soldered it myself to prevent it happening.

Hmm 3100 vs 3200 is a bit of a quandry for the sake of £20.

Out of interest where did anyone install the brains of the system on an Octy?

I was thinking either somewhere behind the radio or industial vecro and towards the glovebox.

Any other suggesions

I drilled the switch blanking plate and melted the back so I had a flat is area for the screw head to go through. Using part of the kit that came with the 31K I attached the display to the cover and placed it back into the dash.

I also melted an indent into the bottom of the switch blank so I could route the cable back into the dash.

With regards to the control module. I placed that down by the transmission tunnel in the foot well (there is loads of space, but means taking a bit of the footwell apart) and ran the headunit cables back up to the alpine.

Bum just noticed I can't spell either

Ok so I'll have a think on the kits, i'm still contemplating the parrot kits I have to say, but then I do like nokia phones so probably not a major issue.

Can say I fancy paying £250 for the nokia kit with the display.

Does anyone know how hard it is to run a microphone up to the sunroof area, how to remove and reattach the roof lining up there and also if there is anywhere to put it in the sunroof/ligt controls on an Octy I?

OK i'm going to collect a Parrot 3200 from a place for £110, all in, not bad consiering it isn't much more than the 3100.

I'm going to stick with the easy iso mounting for now as I'll probably chop the car in for a new one as things move on.

Not sure on an Octy but I have seen it done in my Fabia and Golf as well as fitted several in other cars myself. It's easy enough.

BTW £250 for the Nokia is a shocking price, especially as the Parrot 3200 is only £199 fitted. You would have to worry about where it all goes then ;)

Thanks Decron,

Yeah the Nokia kit with the display is selling for about £250 plus fitting, seen it for £200 plus fitting after a good hunt, but I resent not paying that much bearing in mind i have a good idea how much the B.O.M for one of those things will be.

The CK-7w is a good kit and I'll be installing the on in another car, at a similar time.

I've been told the parrot works well with my phone by the local place i bought it from, so if it doesn't it will be going straight back.

Just had a nosey and wonder has anyone with a 3200 removed the blank all together and fitted the display.

How does the mount thingy work anyway as i have an idea but i'm not 100% sure.

You fit the bracket and slide the display onto the bracket.

Have you thought of mounting the display just above the heater vent? you can pull the vent assembly out easily and it should just fit in on betweeen the dash and the vent. This is where I have mine (Photo pending) in my Fabia.

How do you do that then as the mounting bracket I have isn't flat it has a flat back which just pushes on and a non flat swivel bracket as well as a single separate plate. No 90 degree flat plate :(

Failing that I'll be getting a bit of ali made up to fit it to.

The brackets that come with the parrot 3200 are rubbish. i binned mine and got a swivel head and a dashmount bracket see links:-

Although these arent that cheap, it made the fit look more proffesional. The only drawback so far is getting the wifes samsung d600 to stay connected to it, my nokia has no trouble whatsoever.

Hopefully you will see a piccy of my install!!??
