thing what goes to the back!!!

Featured Replies

right. been meaning to ask this for some time. i want to do the exhust on my felicia 1.6.

what i am looking for is an exhust that gives more power:D , but dosent sound like a nova with the end of a satern 5 rocket sticking out the back:thumbdwn: . and i need to be able to drive quietly if i have to (could do without to much attention, if y know what i mean;) ). to

do this. i was thincking of takeing out the cat and center box (in such a way, so as they

are replaceble. :finger: MOT!!:finger: ) and fit a sports back box.

anyone got any thourghts??? need some help hear.:o

from my experience, power comes from the lack of restrictions to the exhaust gases. so an ideal super high performance exhaust is as wide in diameter as possible and as short as possible with out any silencers. think of a drag car. about a foot long, straight out of the manifold??

as for road cars the have to have atleast one silencer to be raod legal and cat for Mr MOT man.

so with that in mind you need to make a few decisions. go for a complete 3" bore system with a sports cat and a silencer for best performance or go for a smaller system with a sports cat and 2 silencers for a more quite result.

depends on your budget. just getting a sports cat releases power so perhaps start with that!

hope some of that makes sense to you

thanks andyrew. guna cut the cat out, and mod it, so it can be put back in for the nice man at the mot station. helps being a fabricator (dont belive in cats anyway. they replace one harmfull gas with one thats just as bad. and in the proccess make your car run uneconomicly $hite!!!! rant over). what about back-persure? do i need any? what does it do?

not sure how the 1.6 likes its exhausts done, on the 1.3 system the way to go is to decat, remove the centre box and replace the back box with a 2-2.5" janspeed generic backbox.

Exhausts can be quite tricky things theres more than just flow and back pressure to a good exhaust, They can actually help with pulse timing to improve power as well acting a bit like a vacuum sucking fumes out rather than just carrying them to the back of the car.

Unfortunately I have no experience of tuning the 1.6 to know how it likes exhausts set up.
