Dashboard red illumination?

Featured Replies

I saw an octavia1 passing by and it had red illumination dashboard. Could this be done in the octavia2 ?

That wasnt an Octavia mate, probably a Seat Toledo. ;)

I recognise octavias very well.

If it was an Octavia, there are ways to convert the illumination to red. Either change the surface mounted LEDs - a non starter unless you are very handy with a soldering iron. Or, fit SEAT guages, and change the LEDs in the switches.

No Skoda has red illumination as standard. ;)

It wasn't a black estate was it?

I believe that the octavia1 has simple light bulbs for the illumination and therefore it is easy to change it from green to red but the octavia2 has led so I guess that it has to be a soldering job.

I don't remember if it was black but what's the difference?

Octavia 1 gauges and switches can be swapped with Golf Mk4 parts. Have done it myself thanks to EddyH's excellent 'how to' guide. The black Octavia is his car.

You might be able to swap your switches and gauges from a Golf Mk5 possibly?

Hi, on the first Octavia´s the illumination was red, i think they changed it in ´98... Hope the spelling is ok.... Happy newyear from Denmark...
