Finally a heater that works....Now broke again

Featured Replies

Had a part replaced in my heater the other week (not the motor flap thingy) Worked great for about a week and now its back to how it once was.:thumbdwn: Lowest setting cold. Turn it up one and it warm.

Anybody had a similar thing.

Are you sure it's not the flaps John??

Does your recirc button work ok, that's often a tell tale sign.

No idea I never use it. If I turn it on how would I know its not working? Will the windows mist up?

The dealer reset the flap before hand and they ordered a replacment part but when they came to fit it they thought it was something else so replaced that.

I done a couple of tests with vag-com on the flap and it seems to be working fine.

When you press the recirc button there should be a definite change in the sound the fans are making (gets louder and more "roary"), much like the noise the fans make when you put the car in reverse :D

It's not so much a case of knowing if it's working but it tends to turn itself off pretty quickly.

Well tried the recirc button this morning. Stayed on until I starting playing with the comtrols. I find if I turn it on then move from demister to demister/lower vent and then back to demister it goes off everytime

So that mean the flaps fubar'd?

I'm sure there is a vent setting position which turns the recirc off, but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was .... maybe it was the demister? Best consult your handbook ;)

If you are checking the flaps with VAG-COM and not seeing a fault then I doubt it's that. Do you have any faults at all?

Anybody know what a heater temp motor is?

If it helps its located in the engine bay :thumbup:

don't know what it is John , but i would locate the heater pipes under the bonnet and trace where they go and what they go to , you may find something obvious with an electrical connector on it

What draws you to that motor?

Not me the dealer. They have traced the problem back to this. They beleive it has a tempermental fault.

I can't see anything in the engine bay.

Not sure too. They say they've test the flappy thingy that you can reset with Vag-Com but thats not the problem. Should have it fitted next week so will let you know. I'll ask the guy again where about its located.

Its still broke. 23 days left

I have exactly the same problem with my vRS. Haven't taken it to the dealers, as i thought it was just me being incompetent, and not knowing how to use the heaters effectively.

At least now i know its a fault.

To be fair mine a bit more than the average heater fault you get in the fabia Normally its the heater flap. : Lucky me. rolleyes:
