Police Car in Croydon

Featured Replies

Blue flashing lights and a siren parted the traffic on the busy Purley Way this evening as an un-marked Police car, increasingly the norm around here, fought its way through the usual rush hour mayhem.

The car was an Octavia VRS Estate in grey.

Here in Portugal 50% of Police cars are Octavias now. Moving radar (un-marked cars) are Octavias Estate.

One more idea:

99% of taxi cars in Portugal were Mercedes. It always made me think it's been like that because Mercedes is excellent car, made to run for many kilometers. At this point Mercedes is getting down (price probably) and Octavia and Superb took like 10%. I took a ride in one Octavia MK1 taxi few days ago. It marks 380.000 kms on the clock. It needed new suspentions and few more little things to run like a new. It was 1.9 TDI, running smooth like Mecedes.

An unmarked police car went past me last night.

Due to it being very dark and the car was lit up like a christmas tree with its strobes etc I couldn't get a proper look at what it was, but I swear it was a new shape Audi TT.

I didn't think they were even out yet? I cant think for the life of me what else it can have been, there aren't many low slung 2 door sports cars that look like new shape Audi TT's.

Not sure a TT, new or not, would make much sense as a cop car. Might have decided to try and confuse everyone I suppose?!

The new TT is out, seen a few round here. Think the first one I spotted was at the start of November. I find the colour of them makes a massive difference - between looking bland and anonymous and quite muscular and sporty - weird

Steve

It can only have been a new TT if they are out already then, it was either dark blue or black and did look very muscular.

If your in the sussex area keep an eye out, I'd like to confirm it was what I thought it was, had blue and red strobes all over the thing!

.... I swear it was a new shape Audi TT.

I didn't think they were even out yet? I....

They are, friend of mine took delivery of one early in the 56 registration period.

I was in an Octy mk1 1.9SDi taxi recently with 279,000 miles on the clock! Other than the clutch feeling a bit rough when pulling away from stop, it was sound! No rattles that I noticed and everything felt well held together too!

London's HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service ) have a blue Octy 2 Vrs. Seen in central a few times racing about. Looks great.

Local emergency doctors (the ones with the green lights on the roof) have gotten rid of the Peugeot 407sw's they were using and replaced them with Roomsters!

I can comfirm that sussex police are using a dark blue new shape Audi TT as an un-marked vehicle.

I saw it again tonight with all it's lights flashing having pulled someone over.
