Fabia 1.4 TSI

Featured Replies

Was at my dealer complaining about a rubbing noise at low speeds which has been there since i took delivery, apparently requires a small rear brake modification. Now booked in.

Anyway, the servicing engineer mentioned that one of the engines to be put in the new Fabia is the 210bhp 1.4TSI (turbo'd & supercharged) out of the current Golf. Sounded a bit OTT & excessive given the extra mods to the car that would probably be required, but also pretty damn good!

Anybody heard similar rumours? or got any thought on this?

oops.....think the 1.4TSI only has 170bhp, but was sure he said 210.

170bhp is the highest output version yet but I'd be surprised if the fabia got that instead of the 140

TBH if the Fabia II vRS is as expensive for what it is as the Octy II vRS I don't suppose it matters because we'll all buy proper brands for the same money.

for the new fabia vRS to be competetive with its rivals then it needs a lot of power really. simply look at the corsa vxr, clio 197 and some others. theres a bit of a powre war going on.

And skoda is a proper brand now ?

vdub/audi money

Skoda is a proper brand now! The thing is , it is supposed to be the 'Value' brand in the VAG group line up , so its products , even the high spec ones , really need to be cheaper by a significant enough margin to stop buyers thinking "Well I may as well pay the extra

But the mk1 Fabia Vrs is not in the same ball park as the clio and corsa. It's just below and uses other things rather than pure power to market itself. the mk1 was marketed on "practical and exciting" I don't think you can get a nearly 200bhp that is practical (economical). Although I'm sure the new engine technology will make it more reasonable. 170bhp tdi would be good to keep the practical and exciting marketing stance up and still be up their with th rest of the pack using the tdi torque to fill the void. Maybe a petrol version would not be out of the question to give you a bit of choice but VAG use Seat for that bit.

IMHO the Octavia II vRS is a good

The fabia VRS is about 12k , the fast clios and corsas are 5k more expensive and targeting a different market so it's no wonder they have more power.

You'll never see the same engine in the furby as the octy. At most the furby may get the 140TDI, but never the 170.

One of my best mates is the service manager in my local Skoda dealership and has heard chat about both a TDI and petrol Furby vRS in 2008. The TDI most likely being the 170bhp model, and there's a posibility of the petrol model having the 2 litre engine out of the Golf GTI.

There's also a rumour about a Superb coupe with a detuned lambo engine as seen in the Audi's.

Sorry if this is old news but it's just what I hear when in the pub with him. :)

There actually is a 210bhp version of the 1.4 TSI in the pipeline, and it's destined for the new Scirocco. Whether the Furby II will get it is quite another thing!

With the spiralling weight of small cars I'm sure it could do with 210bhp, but I reckon the vRS will have the 140 at best!

Exactly... you heard it in the pub. Come on do you seriously think skoda would put the same engines in the furby that the octy has ? If that happened they'd muck up there whole model structure

Errr I think that was supposed to be irony/sarcasm, at least I hope he was intending it that way!!!

I agree

The Fabia will most likely get the 140PS variants of the 2.0PD and the 1.4TSI, in my humble opinion of course.

As for the couple Superb thing, I think you are refering to the "Tudor". If that happens, I will eat my hair. All of it.

omelet anyone? :D

Nope, I was being serious... It's not just pub chat, he's one of my best friends, just dropped the pub thing in as that's where we tend to hang out. Still, it's only stuff he hears on the grapevine from Skoda HQ and at VAG meetings in Milton Keynes. Probably been handed down Chinese whisper stylee from the top, and gets exaggerated on the way down. I hear the Furby II vRS will have NOS fitted as standard you know. ;)

I do like the sound of that Tudor thing tho. U never know, it may happen. U can only wish :)

Thats the real clincher isnt it. Staff in the dealer network are the last to actually find out about these things. Usually the car arrives and somewhile later all the support and training for the new vehicle does..lol

Probably not. The latest and greatest will be kept for VW/Audi at first

I'd place money on the 140. A small gain in power to make up for the inevitable weight gain, and a move up from the old 8V TDI (easier for euro IV?)

omelet anyone? :D

I'll have one ^^ get the scissors ready

I'll have one - easy on the hair though!
