Fabia 1.4 TSI

Featured Replies

The upcoming VW Scirroco is meant to have a 210 BHP using the 1.4 engine , cant see the fabia Vrs 2 having that, not for quite a while anyway

The new vRS must come in under 14k or it really won

I too cannot see Skoda making the new Fabia vRS quicker than the Octy vRS. I wouldn't have thought that the 2.0tdi would be a wise choice of engine though, going by how unbalanced the Fabia is with the 1.9tdi which I assume weighs less? I would have thought a better solution (I don't know how practical) would be a 1.4tdi in a higher state of tune? I expect that to be a development in the pipeline to compete with the likes of the 1.6 common rail diesels from ford/citroen which are generating well over 100bhp and giving high economy figures. Not to mention the 1.9tdi is hardly a new development and I would guess that it's place in the VAG empire being reduced to a single 105PS variant indicates it's replacement soon?

1.4TSi producing 210bhp . . . blimey, that's some going for a 1.4 in a road car!! How reliable realistically would it be if it was put into production, surely the strain on the engine would be immense at that capacity?!

Remmeber the Fabia 2 is going to be a new platform not yet used so they have had time and research to address and suspension design issues with a heavier engine up front.

The 2.0TDI weighs just a little less than the 1.9, just to the new ali head etc

The 1.9 has an ali head, the 2.0 head is bigger to house the new valve train.

It might well be a bit lighter being a newer design.

yeah I new the head is ali in the 1.9, I said the "new ali head" as in it's been redesigned, to be bigger but lighter so it doesn't affect the handling of the newer cars compared to the 1.9s

I think it's safe to say that nobody on this world apart from Mr S. koda and his army of car building robots over in Czech land can definitely say what will happen. I'd love to see the 1.4TSI engine in the Furby 2. Now seeing as it has a super and turbocharger, I'd like to be able to remove the boost return (if fitted) from the supercharger and then get a dump valve on the turbo too! The thing would be whooshing and chuffing all day! :)

Do you mean ....

Chuffing whooooshing?

I need to get down to VW and test drive a Golf GT. Always wondered what driving one would be like.... and see if I can feel the switch over from super to turbo charger
