Featured Replies

HI WHAT IS THE EXACT NAME OF THE VAG COM SOFTWARE VERSION I NEED TO DOWN LOAD FROM ROSSTECH, I HAVE DOWNLOADED VER 607 BUT THE USB CABLES FOR SALE ON EBAY SAY THEY ARE FOR VERSION 409.1 ,THE ONLY ONE I COULD SEE ON THE

DOWNLOAD PAGE ON ROSS TECH WAS THIS twin-usb-label.png WHICH IS VERS 409 IS THIS THE ONE I WANT ?

Didn't you receive a copy of the software with the cables?

If you bough a 3rd party USB interface, that's actually a serial (COM/RS232) interface with an integrated USB<>RS232 adapter. The driver that come with these interface emulate a serial (COM/RS232) port, which VC then connects to.

On our download page...

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Downloads: Which One?

... you'll see the comment "or you have any no-name or third-party interface" on the right side of the page, which leads you to the archive pages where you can download the old versions 311/409.

If he would have received one, that would probably be a violation of our copyright (as it can be read on the download pages).

Apologies, I thought redistribution of the shareware/trial version was possible by third parties.

The one I bought emulates a VAG-COM cable, When you connect it for the first time, Windows even pope up a box saying "Found new Hardware: Ross-Tech interface" (or similar).

Works with the latest version you had available to download when I installed it 4 months back.

I think some of the pirates are more advanced than you may realise.

No, we know exactly what they're up to. However, some of the users of pirated products seem to be less advanced than I would have thought. I mean, if you're going to use a pirated product, why would you say so in a public forum where the developers of that product are known to hang out?

Not entirely sure about that one either

I bought the genuine article which in the case of VAGCOM I believe is well worth it. I ended up with the USB one with CAN capability to future proof as much as I could afford, and having used it a few times I reckon it's already safed me from having to waste a day's holiday to get my car checked by a dealer.

No clue how much investment has to be made to keep up with all new models etc but I would imagine it being a fairly large sum of dosh ;)

Some people really do lead with their chin, and wonder why they get it popped, keep up the good work Phil.:D
