If I install the DX satnav, will the maxidot work with it? And the remote controls on the steering wheel. This would be on a comfort. Thanks guys!

On the topic of Sat Nav does anyone know the following: -

1) How much are the map cds for both the uk & europe (france)?

2) Where can they be obtained from or is it just the Skoda dealerships?

3) How often are the maps updated? i.e.if the disc states 2005 or 2006 is the content different?

4) I take it that the Sat Nav unit are manufactured by someone other than Skoda so are there discs from other manufacturers that work ok?

Thanks

The Sat Nav units are Blaupunkt. The disks are Teleatlas and can be obtained outside of the dealer nework or via them.

Current UK is 2006/2007. There is a pretty good range for Europe.

I too would like to know, if I get a Skoda branded one for my Superb comfort spec, will the controls work on the steering wheel still, and are all the connectors there for it to go straight in with no fuss. I have heard the forb and vw ones are slightly different, but I plan on getting the Skoda branded one.

If you wish to fit a DX unit to your Comfort Superb you will loose the steering wheels controls and multi dot display (top section) only as the Sat Nav will not talk to these features.

It is all to do with the wiring harness in the car and the interaction between the Sat Nav and these functions. Unless you have the Sat Nav already in the car and therefore the vehicle wiring harness for the Sat Nav your fighting a loosing battle. I have not found a way to get around not loosing these functions but for me I am not bothered about them.

Thanks for the info Stu, I see there are disc with the iTMC function for traffic management via the radio - have you tried this out or know anything about it?

Thanks

Yeah I have TMC on mine. Seems to work ok but is only transmitted in the UK on Classic FM.

Do you have a TMC tuner in yours? The MFD1's don't have TMC built in.

I don't know about the model number but it displays info about TMC, see attached pic, maybe you can identify model no?

However, I don't think the 2005 DX Tele Atlas United Kingdom & Ireland cd supports the TMC function?

I have the 2006/07 disk. There are two versions of the disk, the cheaper one without TMC and one with.
