Remap of PD100, Should I?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Well i have just about got my 1.9 TDI PD100 Combi - but the urge to re-map it is already lurking in the corner.

My problem is that there is 2 years warranty, so dare i take the risk of remapping before it expires?

Anything i should know about?

I have talked to a re-mapper, and he mentioned around 130-135bhp without risk and smoke. It will be a custom re-map, and will cost me around

Answer to thread title: "yes" :)

But take warranty into account. Has it been reliable for the time you've had it (in terms of the engine alone) ?? If so, a remap is likely to do no extra damage. A custom map is always better than a generic one, but I would want around 140bhp to be honest. As long as an engine is run-in, mileage is not a factor. Some even remap on the journey home from the dealer. :D

Hehe, yes of course i should get it re-mapped - it`s just a matter of time. ;)

The car has been reliable, but it`s only 1 month old and driven 4300km ~3000miles - so it`s difficult to really say anything about reliablity just yet.

But I have the well known stutter, and that will be looked into by a Skoda Technician January 18th.

Regarding BHP - I have seen other Fabia`s here in DK with 140-145 BHP, so it should be possible, but it will probably be quite smokey - but hey, you know all about smoke. :D:thumbup:

I never worried about Warranty. Skoda will find it difficult to tell whether you've remapped your car or not. Especially your local dealer if anything went wrong. I had my Fabia vRS 2006 Remapped after 300 miles.

I think Jabba supposedly remap to 148bhp - tempted to do it myself once I've paid for the car.

A quick test drive or a check up on VAG-COM would easily tell if the car was remapped ;) Whether the mechanic bothered mentioning it is another matter though

Why not stick a tuning box on it until the warranty is up?

Are they good enough?

Will they be able to see that a tuningbox has been installed?
