Downgrade From vRS?

Featured Replies

With all the posts\arguments on here about how fast the vRS is, I've noticed the ex-owners tend side against it. I just wondered how many consider the move to be an upgrade or a downgrade?

I suppose it depends what you are moving to/from.

Why would you want anything slower after having power? There's no real MPG advantage worth speaking of and the bog standard Fabia's look naff in comparison IMO. Unless you really need to save a few £ on insurance etc I don't see why you'd want to. But then again, I'm fairly into my cars. The thought of driving a 1.2 12v thingy does not appeal in the slightest.....

Used to have a Fabia VRS, currently in a MkV Golf 1.9TDI (105bhp).

What do you think?

I had a fabia vrs and had an audi a3 2.0 tdi as a loan car until my new one arrived.

that felt like a downgrade which might suprise a few people.

Now my honda civic 2.2 ctdi has arrived and it's certainly an upgrade. More spacious, lots of toys, very comfortable and quicker then my standard fabia vrs was and still being run in too.

quicker then my standard fabia vrs

Well I'm moving to an Audi A4 130 tdi, so the same engine, don't know if I'd class it as an upgrade or downgrade.

I'm test driving on Saturday so I'll let you know what I think. I'm certainly not bothered about the performance of the thing, just need the additional space.

Skoda Fabia vRS - BMW 120D M-Sport

Upgrade, no question.

I downgraded to a Corsa CDTI - definite and deliberate downgrade.

Now I own a Focus TDCI, certainly atleast on a par with the Fabia vRS overall, but both better than each other on different things.

I'll upgrade soon too.

To be honest though, I simply try to stay realistic about the Fabia vRS - just as I was when I owned it. :)

Tom, thought you were going to keep you Focus, after that other thread? :)

Difference with my car change is that it won't cost me anything to change my car, the Audi I'm looking at is costing me

Definately an upgrade!! :D

upgrade from a clio dynamique 1.2 16v but sometimes feels like a down grade when it rains as my wipers don't start automatically and also my lights don't:D

Other than that upgrade for v.similar running costs:thumbup:

Well I downgraded in power and image from a Lancer Evolution II GSR (260PS) to my 68PS Fabia 1.4 Comfort. However , apart from the power , I'm not missing the Lancer as much as I thought I would , I dont miss services every 3000 miles , I dont miss group 20 insurance , and

Fab vRS to Mk2 Octy vRS, I would consider that an upgrade

Well I went from a vRS to a 1.2 12v anf not found it too bad. Mind you I was sick to death of the agro I had the vRS.

I went from a Focus RS to the VRS and dont consider it a down grade. I think my bank balance has considered it an upgrade. I can pass things quicker in my VRS than my FRS on the pure fact of having the power where its needed and not having to wait for the turbo lag. But I think its each to there own, i do high mileage and this car was ideal for me. Cheap to buy, holds its value and cheap to run!

The wiper switch is on the right stalk and the lights turn on with a switch on the right facia!! ;)

Got a PD170 mobile? .....

I went from a 145 Bhp Seat Toledo, to my 64.2bhp Sdi Fabia, yes the Toledo looked nicer, had leather etc, but i prefer the fabia, cheaper to run, insure, and no chance of getting caught speeding (again)

Definately an upgrade!! :D

his audi will depend on the spec. If its standard specification I would keep the fabia, as the audi isnt comfortable on long journeys and the red gets on your nerves after a while.
