hmmm shiny shiny Bailey Valve

Featured Replies

Finally fitted my bailey dump valve and I LIKE IT I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!! Only pain was the clips that where on. After lots of stabs from a screwdriver the blighters came off replaced them with normal jubilee clips (courtesy of friendly MT yard) and et voila!! No more chirrup chirupp but a nice ptshhhhhhh noise, I really didn't expect it to be as loud as that!!!!!! I was giving it a good old revving to make sure it was going groovy and it sounds good the proof is tomorrow when I go for a drive. I am also sure I heard a popping sound when I was revving the engine not sure if it was the exhaust or what??????? Suppose I will soon find out if it is serious :D

Did you fit a right angle adapter on top as in this picture? (It makes the engine cover a better fit).

If you mean the bit on top of the Valve that was already on  as I got it mail order from Jabba.

Just back from a test drive and all I can say is WOW Turbo Lag is no more!!!! Gear changes seem less harsh, as the turbo seems to be constantly spinning (I think you might know what I mean :D)I am well impressed, also as a bonus the woosh is audible when driving. I knew my OEM DV was dead as the car didn't seem right before i.e The chirupping from the DV, the car not seeming to pull as well (the dealer wouldn't have this :thumbdwn: Too much reliance on diagnostics machines nowadays) but now it feels great I have POWER!!!!!!!! I recommend anyone with an Octy vRS buy a replacement DV before you buy anything else

Nice to hear that Jabba swop the original straight connector on top for mail order purchases, just as they do if they fit the DV for you FOC.

Tip: For others fitting their own DVs, DON'T BOTHER stabbing yourselves with the screwdriver, just PULL out the old DV, and then the clips just slide off the hoses.

Will it make a difference on my Subaru Legacy Turbo? It is running at higher boost...I've got a standard one on mine? Do you have to do any maintaining on it or what?

Thanks

Do Scoobys run Diverter Valves(DV) or Blow Off Values (BOV)?

Whichever type it is an upgraded one should give you increased response and hold boost better.

Forge DVs generally require maintenance but Bailey DV don't.

Warranty Q...

As always i'm concerned about the implications fitting one of these will have on my warranty, i know the theory behind a DV is to extract the pressure from the turbo through gear changes and this can only be a good thing (reducing the amount of load on the turbo) but if for example one was fitted to my car then for some reason the turbo went bang would i get it replaced under warranty or would they tell me to do one !?

Nigel get one of the recommended Diverter valves - Forge, Bailey, Hyperboost etc, (in no particular order) and this is very unlikely to happen - they are well manufactured, quality items. The main reason for replacing the OEM one is that it isn't! (although it always fails in a "safe" manner, i.e. the diaphragm splits preventing the turbo from achieving full boost at all :D )

Apparently the latest OEM DV are very good (don't fail as much) but still a diaphragm type so won't give you the improved response of a piston type DV e.g Forge, Bailey etc.

sound interesting,is the nice ptshhhhhhh noise a lot louder? I would like to have the DV a bit more noticable but some you hear going around are a bit over the top and they take the ptshhhhhhh .I'd like to hear it but not deafen people miles away :D
