Chipped Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just tried a friends Octavia 4 x 4 L & K estate which has beed chipped, not sure by who. Anyways, he said its producing 195bhp. I wasn't very impressed, I expected it to fly, but performance was ok, nothing shatering and had bad Turbo lag under 3000 revs. I can't imagine what it was like standard with 150bhp.

Is this normal?

My standard 94' Volvo 850 T5 flies compared to this, but then road holding is a different story.

Any comments?

for starters theres no such thing as a 4x4 L&K ;)

on a standard turbo the lag isn't too bad i thought and the thing with the octavia is it can be decieving as its so smooth, especially on the standard 4x4 suspension.

the T5 is more powerful, has a bigger engine so can get the turbo spinning better and weighs less aswell as having lower loses through the transmission so i would have thought it would be quicker than a 195bhp 4x4 estate any way :)

You sure that an estate is heavier than an 850 T5?

Oh by the way, it is a 4 x4 & it is an L & K, might be wrong about the Vrs though.

Its a 1.8 Turbo that had 150 bhp before the chip.

they never madea 4x4 L&K, totally seperate models. the 4x4 only came as an elegance.

the L&K differs by having full leather interior, xenon lights, gun metal finish alloys and a few other extra's that the 4x4 never got.

and the vRS is a totally seperate model all together. they all share the same(pretty much) 1.8T though.

just been looking on parkers and found the following:-

T5 estate - 1412Kg

T5 saloon - 1363Kg

octavia 4x4 estate - 1470Kg

The 4X4 was available in some non-UK markets in L&K guise. I found this reference to one on a Russian site.

- Octavia 1.8 Turbo 20V L&K 4x4 150/5700 5МКПП с 2002 по 2004

sorry, assumed it was a UK car and never found any reference to an L&K 4x4 available in other countries

Thanks Bengie and DGW, forgot to mention that the car is located in Malta.

Would never have thought that a Volvo would be heavier than a station wagen Skoda.

Thanks for your time guys.

Well, I'll try to sketch an image for you: the car was remaped Stage 1 so to speak. Meaning low version. The power and torque increase over 3000 rot/min so the clutch is safe, so is the turbo. The lag is the same as before or nearly.

If you will change the version of the map to normal one (~215CP), you will notify a huge difference in the curves and consequentky in car's dinamic. It is not slow presently, just asleep. Believe me!
