Windscreen trim - Octavia

Featured Replies

Whilst driving along the motorway in strong winds something appeared to hit the roof of our 2002 Estate. On examination it was the driver's side windscreen trim that runs upto the roof rail that had blown off. How much are these and are they easy to fit?

Appreciate this may be a dead-end but...

The same thing has happened to me on the passenger side. It was on a windy night while the wife was driving it; she heard a small bang .. and thought nothing of it! Next day I was cleaning the car and hey presto: no trim and the front cover for the roof rail was missing too!

A few weeks prior to this I'd noticed that the trim was a little loose at the bottom of the windscreen. I just pushed it back into place and thought nothing more of it. I'll take a photo and post later.

There are metal clip holders, but my question is can a new one just be pushed into place or do you need to lift/move the windscreen to get it in. Secondle what is the correct term and/or part number for this please?

A part number for the roof rail passenger (offside?) cover would be great too?

Many thanks for any help; love this forum BTW!

Yes is the answer to just simply fitting a new trim into the old carrier. I would clean out the old carrier first though and be sure not to hit the new trim on too hard as this may result to a broken windsreen :-(

Thanks for your reply. You can see in the pic of the missing windcreen trim where it has come away.

I'll clean the channel as suggested. Have you any idea if there is an official name for this part and where I could get it - do I have go through a dealer? Thanks

I have one off a 2002 vrs if it would help?

It's simply a windscreen side trim or moulding. And yes only main dealer I'm afraid

No a hatch would it be the same?

No a hatch would it be the same?

Mine is also a 53 estate - I'm not sure if they're the same? I would be interested if it fits?

I've posted a picture further up - if you check it you can see where the strip runs from the windscreen bottom up to the top rail.

- Does the vrs you've broken have roof rails? If not how long is the strip - does it stop at where the roof rail bolt holes are?

- I'd also need a cover for the roof rail if you have it?

Thanks

estates have roof rails fitted (unless classic trim), so I dunno how the hatch joins the trim, otherwise it would be one long single run to the back of the car?

The estate from memory has a longer trim as it joins a few inches back from the windscreen line

Yep, that's right - about 5 inchs - you can see it here in the pic I took of my missing trim

The Part Number for the Nearside Roof Trim is: 1U9854633F (Estate Only with roof bars)

It comes in two sections - Front trim & Middle trim £52.57 inc VAT they can't be bought seperatley.

I'm going to have to bite the bullit and buy a set for mine.
