Just bought a vrs octavia

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls - had been looking at the reviews for newish cars for ages and reviews kept telling me to seriously look at the Octavia as a serious buy.

It seemed to tick all the boxes as i needed something that was reliable and practical, (bambino on the way), but wanted something with a bit of kick!

Went to test drive at Lightcliffe Skoda Halifax, good dealer with no pressure tactics, (thanks Bryn), and was blown away at the VRS model.

Good quality and smooth drive impressed at first but acceleration was brisk.

I say brisk because i couldn't unleash the full potential as there were many speed camera's on route and didn't want fall foul of the garage who kindly let me take out the fine motor on my own with my wife.

Test drove a new model 2.0 tdi pd next, which had plenty of poke but interior didn't get my juices flowing as much as the vrs, which seemed a less fuss interior in comparison. Kinda feel thet the old octavia looks rugged and more of a man's car than the new model.

Common sense and economy went to backround thoughts and i plummetted for the VRS offering

Hi and welcome to the forum. I can't really comment on the new vRS but I collected my 03 plate two weeks ago and totally love it. It's the best car I've owned by far and a total joy to drive. Plenty of pace when required and lots of toys to keep me amused. The seats are also incredibly comfortable with a great seating position in comparison to my last car.

Welcome to Briskoda. Nice choice of car. :D

The boot will easily swallow the baby kit, just watch you dont damage the paint work with all the acceleration & braking as the buggy slides around inside the boot :)

Had mine from new in Sept 2003(53 reg),had it re-mapped at 10K miles and it now has various other modifications the biggest converting it to Dual Fuel.

Get a cargo net to reduce this :)
