Headlight washers - any good without wipe?

Featured Replies

Are headlight washers much use on their own?

Or do you need a wash / wipe arrangement as fitted to Volvos etc (see pic below) to make them worthwhile?

It will depend on how dirty they are, and the weather conditions.

I think its the pressures involved that make the difference, the Volvos etc just squirted out and relied on the blade for the cleaning, but the Skoda ones rely on the high pressure to shift the filth

The high pressure nozzles are good to a degree but a wipe with a paper towel makes a much bigger difference.

It's the sticky road grime that the high pressure jets can't shift.

they are handy when alongside a nice shiny car or someone is standing in front of the car looking at the headlights :P

Yeah in my experience, the wiper ones work better, but neither is particularly effective at cleaning the lights that well. Maybe the newer ones are better :D
