fabia vrs hid conversion

Featured Replies

right heres my plan,

firstly buy two genuine zenon headlights for a fabia vrs with hid's

i am also under the impression that the hid bulb in the zenon fabia is a d2s?(correct me if i am wrong),so if i buy one of those hid conversion kits (ballasts and bulbs) from ebay that come with the d2s bulbs i should be able to do a zenon conversion for my halogen headlighted vrs?

just wondering if the members of all knowledge had any other ideas or comments on this?

cheers john.

Best to do a search mate - I remember there being quite a lengthy discussion about this. And also possible glare issues when fitting HIDs in the Fabia.

i have seen most of these threads all relating to hid bulbs in the standard reflector headlights but has anyone done a conversion with the oem fabia xenon projector headlamps?

thats why i am thinking about projector headlights to overcome glare:confused:

cheers john

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. No, I don't think anyone's done the conversion, where it includes the purchase of the headlamps for a Xenon-equipped Fabia. Good idea though

How much are the headlights each though? Could see them being quite pricey!

well i am gunner go down to my local dealer and price them up. if they are less than

I like your thinking! Might be worth enquiring with places like Vagparts that get genuine parts items without the dealer prices.

Most of the conversion kits have bespoke or non-standard wiring. You're best bet is to buy OEM ballasts/igniters or Philips jobbies. You may still need to get the wiring sorted....

wiring is not a problem for me being fully trained in autoelectrics (yes some halfords employees are actually trained once in a while )

liking the vag-parts idea, may also try eurocarparts etc

i feel a full conversion write -up is in order if i get this off the ground.

role on monday!

Why not go for some FK lights (have projectors in them) rather than paying more for em lights, and having to mess about with level sensors etc

the only thing i am wondering about now is the autoleveling system.

john

Just spotted you'd mentioned this. I don't reckon it would be viable fitting this and getting it working. Would be way too much hassle and expense IMO. And for the complete setup you'd need headlamp washers as well. Factory-fitted Xenons on UK cars require the autolevelling and washers, but isn't legal requirement for retrofit.

update, went down to local stealer and priced up the parts needed to convert the whole car to hid.

worked out to be about

In.pro buy from the same suppliers that FK do. Same as ABCDesign, MHW, etc.

Thoughts...

The headlamps can be got VERY much cheaper from eBay Deutschland

If you can't get a decent postage rate from overseas sellers, go to them instead! Combine a booze/fag run with buying bits for the car :)

John (skud), why not just get the HID kit and see how you get on with the standard headlamps. If they're not up to it then you can refit the standard bulbs again.

On my Corsa, the only part that I needed to modify was the rubber water seal on the back of the headlamp bulb housing.

Has anyone got a picture of the chrome versions (pref) on a fabia, as im worried incase they look tacky, i have standard lamps with a hid kit atm and the light beam is everywhere

think thats wat i am gunner do. will try hid4u because they do a short h7 bulb to reduce glare in reflector headlights.

Well this is what Xenons should look like...

im after pics of the aftermarket ones, as u can see from above, standard ones are very £££

Must admit having projector lights + HID conversion seems like the most viable and hopefully non-blinding option that doesn't cost the earth.

The auto-level is bl*dy expensive and tends to hit aftermarket exhausts as well so I've found, esp. when the car is lowered it can become more of an issue.

I've got the 'proper' ones on mine but I'm very interested in your progress - unfortunately I haven't got any aftermarket pics I can help you with :(

Really after some actual pics of the lights on a car tbh, thanks anyway, those darker german lamps look pretty funky too

I have painted the surround inside the headlight black after giving up trying to find the black projector ones for right hand drive, it was really easy to do really and i havnt had any issews with damp eather. it adds something differnt to the front of the car lol

:wrthless:

Seconded!

Come on Luke, get some pics up here!
