1.9TDi 130 towing help please

Featured Replies

We purchased a secondhand 5/2004 1.9TDI SE 130 last September and think it one of the best buys we have ever made - especially as it already had a towbar fitted although never towed.

I was somewhat alarmed how much the ball dropped when I hitched the caravan to it. On my Co car (Astra G 1.7CDTi 80bhp estate) it barely moves and the whole train is pretty well level, whereas the Octy is distinctly nose high/tail down and waddles when towing. 'Van nose weight is about 70Kg.

Has anyone else found and cured this problem? I am looking at MAD Power Sping assistors - a secondary spring that fits inside the original and only has effect under load and I understand that VAG are happy about them viz warranty.

Any help gratefully received.

I just fitted "doughnuts" to my rear springs and it worked a treat .....octavia didn;t win towcar of the year for nothing

Grayston Engineering Spring Assisters

iirc skoda can supply springs specificly designed for towing
