Felicia Brake Pedal Travel

Featured Replies

Has anybody any opinions etc on the Brake Pedal transverse bracketry which is used on the 98 Felicia.

My Pedal does appear to have rather a lot of free travel or sloppiness in it.

I have checked the rear shoes and the auto adjust gubbins and it appears fine.

From wat I can deduct most of my lost movement seems to occur between the Pedal and the Servo.

Any opinions or...are "They All" like that Sir !! :)

have you tryed taking the front calipers of and re-setting the pistons with a G-clamp. then press the pedal till all goes firm again.

just an idea, but it makes mine feel much tighter.

is your one right hand drive???

if it is right hand drive it may be something loose in the brake pedal linkage

Yep we drive on the same side as youze...!!!

Never did the G Clamp bit so might try that.

The brakes are fine but its the sloppy travel that annoys me !!!:thumbdwn:

Once draining the fluid, and filling it back up, and repeating that a few times sometimes makes things better. Each one I have owned has done similar.

time to switch model me thinks!!! :D

Is it an estate? as there is a valve thing that weighs the car .... at first feels like sod all is going to happen, when you hit the brakes, but is does and you get used to it.

when G clamping the caliper pistons..... take the top of the brake fluid res (covering with plastic film to keep crud out. You might cause a leak in the system forcing too much pressure.

can anyone describe how the brake pedal should feel like when the braking system is working normally ?

I mean stiffness, travel, efficiency, that sort of things...
