new Fabia VRS vs Suzuki Swift sport

Featured Replies

with my VRS due a service now and an MOT in 2 months and probably a clutch soon also i've been looking at other cars

so i road tested the new Swift sport today , it did go ok and seemed to grip well on the couple of roundabouts i went round , bit disappointed by the way the rear seats basically didn't fold down out the way and no 6th gear , but otherwise the spec seems ok , 6x airbags , ESP , MP3 cd player , was offered

What about the Citroen C2 'By Loeb' edition?

from having the VRS the C2 VTS is definitly a downgrade in most areas. It maybe more dynamic driving wise but is not of similar quality. this is not a dig at the french as they are good at what they do, affordable cars, that are good at what they do.

They do another special version called "code" and this is gun metal grey exterior with Brown leather interior and heated seats and splashes of chrome about the cabin.

Nice but I think they are around the £11k mark but you need to sit in one the experience the low quality plastics and fitment.

I have a suzuki ignis sport, I would recommend keeping the fabia over the swift sport.

i'm just thinking of all the potential big bills i'm may/will get in the future with keeping the Fabia

If I'd had 40k relatively trouble-free (?) miles out of a car, was satisfied with the economy and performance - I'd get another. Are there no vRS demos - i.e. save yourself some money ?

+ I'm sure some of the dealers are offering good deals post Xmas.

Get it in before the service is due and the clutch goes.

Suzuki dealers - should imagine these are a rarer breed than Skoda dealers.

French cars are not in my vocabulary these days - poor reliability, build quality...........

Just had a look in Autotrader - several 05 and 55 vRS, all at dealers, with from 2k to 5k miles for

Chop yours in for another vRS Ric? I'm sure you could find a pretty much brand new one for 11.5k. At least you won't feel like you're missing out, and as you say, get a new warranty and roadside assist etc.

It may be seen as boring to buy the same car again, but perhaps its better the devil you know? :rubchin:

Steve

have u thought about the new Fiat Punto?

ISnt their a problem with the rear axle flexing on the normal swift? Dont know if it affects the sport.

Ric theirs a Suzuji forum I was on the other day. Cant remembe what its called. Probably top of google list. People seem to be reporting less than 30mpg and a few rattles.

You only live once though - doesn't it seem a waste to swap a car for one the same?

under 3k to change from a 3 year old furby VRS to a new furby VRS for a friend.

What about taking out a warrenty Direct policy to cover the major faults (13 months for 12 on the web at the moment) and running it for another year?

You only live once though - doesn't it seem a waste to swap a car for one the same?

Yep, I'm with Steve on this :D

i've read that the rear axle has uprated bushes on the Sport , so doesn't get the flex , but i think it has been designed to have a lift off turn in tight type attitude a la peogeot 106 , felt like that on the roadtest anyway

less than 30mpg scares me a lot , and i could understand rattles as it was a bit hard plasticy inside

Suzuki dealers - should imagine these are a rarer breed than Skoda dealers.

there are 2 in Warrington, 1 in Crewe and 1 the other side of Chester , so round me there are more Suzuki dealers than Skoda ones , but the Skoda one is only 3.5 miles away

yeah , i was thinking about that aswell , i just haven't got round to reading the review in the latest EVO mag

Well i've had my Octy vRS 3 years 4 months and it currently has 107K miles on the clock.

I have it serviced reguarly at Impossible Performance and its running better than ever.

Cars are money pits at the best of time, you only get your moneys worth if you keep them and use them.

So surely putting a new clutch in will be cheaper in the long run than buying a new car???

All my IMO obviously.

you're probably right , i've almost talked myself out of the Suzuki now anyway:O

it was a Clio 197 one week , then a Megane 225 , now a Swift sport

maybe i should just throw

I wanted a clio 197 but just think of the money you woud spend on the car each year to finance, insure, enormous petrol bills and tax. I add all mine up at the end of the month and sometimes I don't think it's worth it.

oh the joys of motoring

What about the new MINI one 1.4?

or an ibiza cupra tdi?

the forum may have been SISOC.co.uk theres a swift sport section on their.

I have test driven the grande punto sporting, and I like it.... I'm also going to look at the ibiza..........
