Hello. I dont own a skoda but my daughter does. Unfortunately she lives a long way from me and has absolutely no knowledge of cars. She lives in Glasgow and rang in a panic to say her engine management light just came on when she was driving home tonight. She drove home carefully and says it seemed to run normally. Her car is an 02 1.4 8 valve Classic. She wonders what she should do and where there is a decent trustworthy helpful garage where she can turn for help. Can anyone advise what might be wrong please. Thanks

Some one should be around soon to advise, but really should contact the dealer to plug it in to be diagnosed.

Search the site in the dealers section, this may help.

As a newbie, could you explain to me how to add myself to the newcomers forum please, Alan

From my dealings with them both, I'd be happy to recommend either Queensborough or St Andrews Skoda, whichever is handier for her side of the river.

Hello and welcome inquisitive

I noticed your post in the Fabia forum about the cost of checking and repair. As mentioned in that thread, it should be checked and repaired as necessary free of charge if still under warranty (even a secondhand dealer's warranty should cover it IMO).

Calling KenONeill: As you are familiar with the two garages you recommend, I'm wondering if a charge is normally made just for checking if no work is required or the client decides to "leave it for a bit"? Many thanks.

Mo

They've never even looked like charging me for information, but I suspect they'd want to bill for using a fault code reader.
