broken xbox

Featured Replies

its broke :(

went to turn it on and it kept crashing and the picture kept corrupting. then it wouldn't start at all and the ring of light flashed red :(

called microsoft and they will pick it up FoC in a couple dyas and get it fixed asap and sent back to me, so far its been a good service if slightly annoying thats its fubar.

waiting and hoping...........

Shame. How long have you had it?

I've had mine since launch pretty much and I am always concerned that it will go belly up.

Nice to hear that Microsoft will be fixing it FoC.

Not chipped is it benjie?

I have heard about the graphics chip frying itself, when you get it back check that the replacement has good ventilation from the back. Mine was 12 months old last month and touch wood is working fine.

I've had to send mine back once. Mine was a launch model. Microsoft seem very good for after service. Free of charge collection and delivery. Didn't cost me anything to have fixed, so all in all a good experience. I had a similar fault to what you've described. Might be worth writing down your serial number down to see if you get the same box back. I wonder if they just whip the gubbins out and put a new set in the same shell.

Be warned to speed things up MS may either send your original back fixed , a brand new one, or a refurbished unit.

Dont send your hard drive with it bengie. I expect they already told you that anyway.

they told me to send nowt but the unit, no cables, extra's or anything. told me not to send it in the original packaging either

mine is about 12 - 18 months old now and i'm really impressed with the microsoft service so far :)

i'll not down the serial number as that is a good point ;)

ventilation wise i shouldn't have any problems as its not up against anything on any side and has nothing sat on it or under it, its just on a shelf next to my PS2 :)
