Octavia Scout UK Prices & Spec Announced

Yowzers. £2k more!

But the Scout is uncommonly pretty. I like it.

How much is the regular 4x4?

Have to say I think I like the Scout, ideal for soft off-roading, and regular green lanes driving. Ideal for farmers and the like.

And its also worth considering how that price compares with similar vehicles such as;

Volvo Cross Country

Audi All Road

Subaru Forester

It's prettier than any of those, by quite a margin.

For the 4x4 2.0 Tdi it's

The equipment list seems quite good though, it has duel zone climate control, 17" wheels, ESP, headlight washers, rear parking sensors . . . that lot would add close to £2k in options on something like an ambient model, so maybe the pricing isn't so far off?

There are some items which I really don't want from the list.

Specification over and above 4x4

- Higher ground clearance (17mm over 4x4)

- Aluminium design undertrays front and rear

- Twin chrome exhausts

- Styled protective body mouldings

- 17” ‘Proteus’ alloy wheels - Like the look of the wheels but I don't like the really low profile tyres

- Light assistant and rain sensor - I can turn my own lights on thank you

- Boarding spots (under door mirrors)

- Net programme in boot

- Rear centre armrest

- Rear acoustic parking sensors - Never needed them and just something else to go wrong. Also, if I change the audio system I would loose the visual display anyway

- Cruise control

- Sunset glass - Don't like the fact that the front side windows are a different colour

- Hill hold control (additional to ESP) - Got a handbrake thank you

- Aluminium pedals

- Chrome kick plates

- Passenger handle (above glovebox)

I am just going to go for the 2.0 Tdi 4x4 I think.

Have to say this is one option I'll never to without in future. Thought I'd never need it but its a) convenient and B) helped me stop reversing over a kid who ran into the path of the car.

Why compare it to the XC70 and allroad etc? They're a completely different class of car. Obviously it's a good deal compared to these as it's a smaller less powerful car just in the same way the regular octavia is a good deal compared to a standard A6.

Can't say I like what appears to be large bits of plastic stuck to front, back and wheel arches on the Scout

A month ago I purchased 1.9TDi 4x4 inc. front/rear sensors,Sunset glass, Multi-Function display, Light Assist & Cruise Control for

Because you have to say some people may want an increased ground clearance car without going to an SUV.

The list consists of :

XC70

A6 allroad

Subaru Outback

Skoda ocatavia scout.

Does it compare to the first three. Not really as it is smaller and lower brand status. However if you want extra ground clearnace in an estate it is by far the cheapest out there.

I thought the comparison was pretty obvious - all four are 4WD estates. They're fundamentally the same sort of vehicle. True, the others are all more expensive to buy and run, but the similarity seems greater than the differences.

Try driving 200-400 miles a day and then decide you don't want cruise control! Also the hill holder on my wifes Forester is superb, have you driven one?

Been there, got the T shirt, still don't want cruise control thanks. I like to be fully involved with driving which is why I don't drive an automatic and I'm happy to use the handbrake to stop the car rolling back. If others like them then that's fine, each to their own as they say, just not for me. :)

I used to do a LOT of motorway driving and tended to use the cruise control when I came off the fast roads to keep me to 30mph.

Also have to say that we have looked at XC70 and Allroads and the Scout with some options is a) a much better proposition and B) not too far away from the stated competition as some of the previous posts would imply. Yes, it hasn't got air suspension and locking diffs but the Haldex clutch system is good enough for the normal TTs and VMotions so should be ok in the Scout.

Mark
