It's my first posting so apologies if being dense.

I've got a 2001 Fabia Tdi 100bhp elegance hatch which has done approx 56k, I've noticed in the last couple of k the suspension seems to be thumping down harder than before.

This is not just when braking but when going over speed bumps or rough road.

I have the tyre pressures set at the level for having 4 occupants in the car so am aware that this could affect the suspension to some extent but you can feel almost every bump!

The car is 9 months away from its MOT and I was wondering if I take the car along to a garage and get told it needs some new springs, then what make of springs I should get fitted?

I'm not interested in lowering the suspension but, was just interested in people's recommendations for make/model of replacement.

the sachs/boge replacement springs are the same as the oe ones fitted at the factory, most motor factors can supply these, and they are about half the price of the dealer price

Thanks TT

Is that the springs or is it more likely to be the dampers nearing the end of their life?

Chris

i think it is more likely to be the dampers or the bushes getting tired

Buy some vRS dampers. Think their about £45 ext vat each.

Cheers for the advice guys.

I'll try and get a mechanic mate to have a look to see if its the dampers/bushes or springs or both.
