Which wheels for track use (must clear Brembos)

Featured Replies

Hullo

Which of the two do you prefer? Thinking of picking myself up a set of 17" track wheels to replace the 16" golf GTI alloys I have (which are for sale as it happens ;))

There are these normal looking 6 spoke TT wheels

eBay.co.uk: AUDI S3 17" RONAL ALLOYS AND TYRES (item 320073905219 end time 29-Jan-07 22:34:23 GMT)

then these 5 spokes which are a little more tarty

eBay.co.uk: AUDI A3 GENUINE 17" SPORT ALLOYS AND TYRES (item 320074675533 end time 01-Feb-07 13:22:58 GMT)

Basically on the lookout for any tatty 17" Audi (et.al) wheels which must clear Brembos, with the aid of 10mm spacers I shall be getting. :)

Anything useful you find, please make me aware. ;)

Five spokes are from the new A3, i.e 5 x 112

First lot are S3 wheels not TT ones ;)

Both sets look heavy as hell.

I believe S3 wheels will fit without spacers.

They'll also be fairly light at least compared to cheaper aftermarket wheels. Also if they're ronal branded quality will be good as they're part of OZ.

Thanks, so I can discount the second set then. I didn't realise they were "new" A3 ones. Thought they'd be 5 x 100 too - would have helped if the seller had put this in the auction so save me buying ANOTHER set of 5 x 112s (check my auctions.... )

I'll follow up on the S3 wheels then. Hoping I can pick up from Brizzle when I'm next training up there. :)

I'd go S3s or TT Comps Jason...

Steve

S3 wheels are like the TT six spokes and comps, very strong but damn heavy,

Yep, I had a set of S3 wheels on the Fab. Not the lightest I'll admit, especially as they superseded a set of 16" Superleggeras! Just the issue of caliper clearance without adaptors I suppose.

Something from OZ perhaps? Not likely to be cheap though...

Steve

Get some Team Dynamics Pro Race wheels.

Ummm, must be cheap. ;)

I can't imagine S3 wheels having a massive effect on performance on the track compared to my current VW 17s. :) If I can blag those in Bristol for £200 I'll be happy.

They should show off your Brembos better than the earlier choices.

and are true "grind back and hammerite" candidates. Just wish he/she had offered postage. Would happily pay

have you tries euro car parts?? they are knocking out wheels quite cheap now

Yeah - I use interparcel a fair bit, and it would be £40. If he could make two boxes into two, then I could get them shipped for around £30 ish.

s3 all the way they fit straight on...

They will clear 323mm brembos will they? Has this been tried and tested? I'm still hoping my current 17s will clear, but I'm really not sure if they will.

That's what I heard but I can't remember where I heard it.

I could swear someone on SCN is running S3s on a Ibiza or Leon with this kit fitted...

Or was it UK-MKivs? :rubchin:

Steve

Yeah the S3 wheels clear Brembos.

p.s Jedi, I like the Fabia in your signature ;)
