Sony Ice Problem

Featured Replies

Hi

Can I have some help and advice please?

A friend has just bought a Sony CDX - GT610 CD player for her car so that she can play her NW-HD3 mp3 player through it.

The connection is on the front of the player (USB).

The problem is the mp3 player seems to need a seperate power supply to work through the CD player. The guys in the shop where she bought it have said she needs a special lead only available through Sony to " double -up" the USB port.

This seems a little weird to me. It sounds like a problem with the MP3 player to me, but having checked the instruction manual, it says it needs a seperate power cable and USB cable when downloading music from a PC.

Has anyone come across a similar problem before and can recommend a cost effective solution- or can anyone recommend a specialist forum where I can post a query?

Cheers

i think that may be a problem assocciated with wether or not the usb socket is a root socket or a hub socket..... the root ones are powered, the hub ones aren't..... i dont know an awefell lot about usb, but i expect sombody will come along who can answer this soon!

A single USB socket can only provide a max of 500mA which is probably not enough to power the MP3 player.
