Flipout or double din screen in Octavia?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any photos of headunits with screens in the Octavia I'm considering a Kenwood with a flip out screen, or the double din fixed screen version but would like to know what they look like first.

The reason I ask is I saw a peugeot 106 with a flip out screen it it today and it looked toss - just hope it would look better (and more at home) in the VRS.

Any opinions comments on pros and cons of either would be much appreciated as would recomendations of models etc.

Ta!

hi

don't have any pictures but if you have a mk 1 octy the double din is the better option.the single din pop out unit will block your switches when out.

one piece of advice i'll give you is when installing the unit remove the glovebox so you can pull back the mounds of cable!!hope this advice helps a little!!

ENJOY!!!

Coilie 110: I really like the look of the double din kenwood - my only reservation is the security issue. They look like a magnet for thieves - I don't want to be worried about where I leave my car all the time. Are they particularly obvious from outside the vehicle when switched off? How easy was it to fit securely?

Radioone: I like the OEM look of the MFD, however I haven't seen them going particularly cheap anywhere and I need iPod connectivity, otherwise I think I'd probably go down that route as the MFDs are less likey to be stolen.

Check the depth of the flip-out screen unit just in case! Some are too deep to fit.

That does look nice - good price too. Does the MFD2 fit the mk1 Octavia? I thought it was mk2 only.

MFD2 doesn't fit the MK1. You would need the MFD for the Mk1

Cheers Rob, I'll remeber that. Looking at the Kenwood 627 at the moment as they're going cheap.
