Annoying rattle

Featured Replies

Hi

As the title states I have an annoying rattle in the nearside door pillar.

Any ideas what it might be and solutions?

Could be the plastic clip (ticket holder) on the windscreen?

Which body style and door pillar? I've got an occasional creak from the LH B-post, where the 2 plastic sections overlap, and had similar problems with my last 2 cars. Which makes me think that it's endemic (to the plastic over plastic lap joint; the other cars were different models of Citroen), at least if you do most of your mileage 1-up.

I had this for a while on my octy, it was indeed the ticket holder rubbing against the windscreen, it has now been removed:)

Dere's just one little t'ing I don't understand. The ticket holder is on the RH screen pillar (RHD car).

Doh! :o

I always get confused between offside & nearside.

I presume there are some cables behind the trim, so it could be a vibration against the trim.

Or are you sure it is actually coming from there?

Try holding the end of the handbrake cable as I had one i swore blind was coming from there until my at the time g/f help onto the handbrake button.

Failing that pull back the rubber strip, take the thing off and apply insulating tape to any bits of wire that look like they may move and re-apply the trim checking all the clips at the same time.

We had this on our Octavia, and I was convinced it was coming from the door pillar or the grabs above the doors or somethings.

In the end the garage sorted it out under warranty - it was the headlining rubbing against something. They had to take it all out and pack it with thin foam or something and the re-fit.

Whatever they did, it worked a treat and has been beautifully silent ever since.

Which makes sense; a rubbing headliner might well use a door pillar trim as a noise pipe, particularly a B-post, or C-post on an estate.

try also adjusting the doors... it worked for me when the RHS one was creaking
