Got my new furball

Featured Replies

Picked the my new VRS up yesterday, silver with cruise control and heated seats.

I've gone from this:

To this:

First impressions are pretty good, even whilst rying to run the car in it can be made to go like hell with low revs, old fiesta was 1.4 16v zetec which needed to be revved to get the best from it, the Fabia just pulls from low down.

The road noise levels are about the same (fiesta had 195/55/15 tyres on it which fed quite a bit of noise into the cabin on certain surfaces), front vision is slightly worse in the fabia due to thicker a pillars, something a lot of modern cars suffer from.

Comfort wise the fabia seems to have the edge with the susension soaking the roads better, not too sure about outright handling yet, yesterday was pretty damp up around Derbyshire and didn't want to push my luck too far, I'm expecting it to be slightly worse than the fiesta as that was like a go kart.

Heated seats are excellent, I would reccomend them to anybody thinking of ordering a new one.

I've been back to the dealer today and picked up a full set of mudflaps as it seems to hoover all of the crap off the road and put it either on the sills or the back window, already fitted the front ones, need to look for the link of how to cut the rear bumper down to fit them, hopefully they will help as I hate cleaning cars.

The stutter is there but Ihad to try really hard to make it do it, now I know how to make it happen I'll just avoid driving like that.

All in all, it's a case of so far, so good.

I like your attitude to the stutter ;)

enjoy :)

Looking good! It's amazing what difference that vRS front bumper does to the overall looks of the Fabia , and also the wheels! Hopefully I'll have one one day , it wont be new though , not after losing 50% of the value of my old Octavia vRS in 2 years , I dont think I could go through that again! Oh , and if you dont like cleaning cars , you went for the right colour!! (Both my old Octys were silver!)

Best colour.

Re the mudflaps - I believe the rears will do next to nothing to cut down the cr*p deposited on the rear, it's down to the 'abrupt' back end.

In the recent grimy weather, the front of the car always looks spotless. Though I've front mudflaps there is still a lot of cr*p deposited beneath the door rubbing strake along the sides.

The back, no I haven't got mudflaps here, I take to giving a quick wash inbetween a full wash as it gets so filthy.

There is a thread somewhere on the Forum as to how to trim the rear so the mudflaps fit.

I've now fitted the mudflaps front and rear, was a little bit apprehensive about taking a knife to the bumper of a 2 day old car but it's nothing compared to the damage the mrs will do to the clutch when she is driving it....

Fortunately it is now bone dry outside and bright sunshine so will not be putting them to the test just yet.

I still can't get over how effortly fast the car is, even using less revs whilst running it in.

Obviously, then, you found the mudflap thread. Yes, I'd be apprehensive carving away, too.

Effortlessly fast - trouble is too soon you get used to it - hence all the modders on this Forum I suppose.
