Just got in from a quick spin in my Octy and found the Sat Nav (Nexus 2 din OE) is on the blink. To be more specific, it

Tried all that and every configuration of switching, swapping and percussive maintenance that I can think of. I

Doesn't the MFD2 have a facility to manually set your location if it gets lost?

I think I had to do something like that on mine the first time I powered it up.

Failing that, pull the fuse!

Good luck, hopefully it will sort itself out by the morning

Thanks:thumbup:

Percussive maintenance - I like that one.

Anyway, now you'll have to edit your signature to remove the Sat Nav bit.

Good point

It could be the satellites were either in a wierd configuration or had problems (my old handheld GPS is only picking up 2 satellites at the moment, and it needs 4 for a fix). Or else the GPS antenna may have moved so it can no longer see upwards through something non-metallic. Is it under the dash on an Octy 2?

It needs 3 sattelites to get a position lock, the more it gets the more accurate the position gets. If it was a GPS problem as a whole then we'd know about it by now.

I've seen this 'open ocean' problem with the MFD1 unit in my old Passat.

It was caused by the data disk being dirty. The unit was unable to load the mapping information for my current position, and therefore resorts to showing an all blue screen.

A quick clean of the disk sorted the problem out.

Bagpuss.

I wondered that as it has been playing up a little lately and usually a reinsertion of the disc clears the problem. But I have now cleaned the disc and it didn

Similar kind of thing happened to me in a previous car, and it turned out that the aerial (that was stuck under the dash) had slipped and fallen from its mounting place and hence was only picking up signals very badly, if at all.

Seems strange that this would happen on a factory fit, but maybe worth a try.

Thanks, but the receiver is built into the roof with the FM ariel housing. Possible that a connector has fallen out of the back of the Nexus, but I doubt it as I

Only recently? Are you able to take a copy of the disc? Sometimes that cures these problems :D

Chris

Worth a shot  if it lets me copy it that is.

Latest development.

1) first work yourself into a mini-rage over the buggered Sat Nav

2) storm out of the house (still in afore mentioned rage) and jump into car (not a la Batman style)

3) fire up Willberpog and check the said Sat Nav

4) weep profusely at the now working Sat Nav

5) drive up to Horners anyway

6) find customer service isn

Glad it's sorted or you might never have made it back home to tell us all! Fingers crossed it was just one of those inexplicable glitches and won't happen again! :D
