Engine partial failure!

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a New Octavia with 1.6 MPI engine. I am having an issue that the dealer has been unable to determine. I start in the morning with the cold start and let the engine idle to normal, after this I start my ride towards my job, car runs fine. Then I take the highway and go to a speed of 140kph. At the end of the highway, I stop to pay as everyone, after this, the engine starts to malfunction by loosing power, it is like if you step and leave the accelerator pedal a few times, it does that then from there on. I get to work, leave it all day parked and the process starts over and over again when I go home or to work or wherever I go. Dealer change the fuel filter and it continues to be the same. They used the VAG to see any indications of failure and it shows none. The engine indicator light of service has never gone on for this issue. Any thoughts/recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Regards,

does it have cruise control??

nope----no cruise control, it is an Ambiente with manual gear.

it might be a fault with the throttle body?? cant think of anything else it might be

There are quite a few engine flash updates IIRC for that engine, have they looked into that?

Just came back from the dealer. Finally the VAS/VAG pointed an error code stating that fuel feed is POOR, the car stayed so that they can further revise what is going on to cause that failure. Will let you know the outcome.

Sorry for the late response. They changed a part of the fuel injection system called "mariposa de inyeccion" in Spanish. I dont know how to say that in English but it is a little mechanism that controls air flow to the system.

Now I have another issue, revs goes up and down when the car is idle after running for a while. They connected the VAS to scan and it showed a problem with the ralenti which controls revs when the car is idle, or using the ac or lights, etc. Have to go to the dealer again! I think this is the price to pay for buying the first batch of New Octy's!

Could well be a problem with the basic settings of the throttle body.
