Alarm...Gone off the last 2 nights

Featured Replies

Not sure why, but the alarm has gone off twice in as many nights.all the vents are shut and I have nothing inside that would set the alarm off.

I have not done anything different the last 2 nights when I have left the car.

I never saw anyone around the car, in the vacinity of the car..maybe someone is trying to get into it 2 nights in a row? I doubt that though...

the time i've had the car it's the only time it has gone off.

Could it be anything to do with severe decrease in temperature? as it's been quite warm ish today (bout 12degrees) and I think the temps are coming down to 0 tonight.

any ideas would be helpful

would vag com be able to show what sensor set the alarm off?

Be very wary of random car alarms in the night. Thieves will target a car, make the alarm go off over and over until you leave the alarm off. Although if its only happening once I night I'd be surprised if its that. Could be due to the temp. If you feel safe doing it and you know you're in a secure area you could lock it with the interior sensors off, although I think that means leaving it without the deadlocks on too...

My old Focus had a proximity sensor that used to through a paddy if it rained hard or got the windows froze up. Always had to disarm the sensor in cold weather, but to my knowledge the fab uses ultrasonics as opposed to microwave sensors.

well I'm definately going to leave the alarm and internal sensors on.I guess a void in insurance would occur if it was stolen and I did that.

I think I may garage it tomorrow and see what happens.

I suspect it's just cos the Fabia's alarm is rubbish :D Mine used to have paddy's occasionally but I couldn't ever find a pattern for the conditions...

ah well, even if it's rubbish I heard it so it's good enough for me.....not looking to have it pinched any time soon :D

An insect could be your culprit?.

will that set the alarm off? must be good to detect an insect

Oh indeed yes, it has happened to me a couple of times albeit in the summer months, the first was a Crane Fly and the second was a small moth!. In a previous car, a very small fly appeared to set the alarm off so I think you'll find that your alarm maybe more sensitive than you think.

Yep, whenever I've had random alarm incidents in the past, it's been because of little creatures! Spiders for me, usually (same with the house alarm, incidently. Spiders move very close to the PIR sensor, sensor thinks it's a larger object further away, alarm goes off!)

I'd give the car a good hoover out Chris, all the nooks and crannies etc, the see how you go....

Funny that, this was what I did yesterday. I will see if the intruder is still there this morning

Ah well, good luck with it.

May not be viable, but leave an outside light on and a webcam running, looking out at the car? :rubchin:

Funny you mention the temperature as my first thought was that the pipe to your rear window washer has frozen and split and is now leaking onto the boot lock mechanism causing the false alarm. This is very common on the Golf Mk4 and may also afflict the Fabia.

its probably DAZ throwing stones at you car.

he will arrive and leave stealthy style cos his "M5" will be off the road for service or summat.

so he will be in a corsa 1.0 loan car.....

Camera is now in place (3 to be exact)

didn't go off the last 2 nights, although I tried to cool the nterior down before I got out.

as for Daz's BMW.... maybe it was him as when I looked out the window there was nothing there

mines been going off as well, it did the same last year on a few occasions when it was really cold, always seems to be early morning though 6/7am, i think mine has a built in sun rise sensor that sets it off:D

As for the alarm, I had the same problem, you will find a search will bring this up ;)

I suspect your problem may well be related to this -

Problem

Spontaneous alarm activation when temperature is under 0
