Hi,

Recently used chipboost for a remap on my Octavia Vrs... Went down and met james, very friendly and knows his stuff. Had a choice of the mild version or the max (took the max):) .

All seemed well but as I was venturing home noticed things werent right.. As I accelerated it seemed to gain and then lose power. James was spot on though in resolving this, I took the car back down and he cleared file and carried out a few mods and was resolved. Car is perfect now and running like its only done 300 miles instead of the 30,000 currently on the clock.

I would say go visit james at Chipboost as the customer service is far better than the 'big' players in the field of remaps. I only paid

Well i had the car remapped yesterday by james, best

You are all so lucky, live near chipboost:thumbup: . Is there anyone do the same near tayside:( ...?

Just like i always said those big name shops(BigBoysToys,StarPerformance,Awesome etc) :finger: are all well over price. And as far as i know there are only 2 different software to choose for,GIAC & ...?.

One more point, VAT will it really goes to the tax-man's pocket...?

Everyone wake up...

200-350 pounds sounds just right.

I live at Newcastle and travelled the 100 or so miles to James at chipboost, why not contact him and ask if he'll meet you half way ? I suppose it is a still a little far but James at chipboost is very good and knows his stuff.

Maybe worth dropping him an email as I know he travels the country doing some kind of other work.. he might be in your area some time...?

is there any difference in mpg after the remap? thinking of having my vrs done when the warranty run's out, but as i do around forty miles a day round trip to work i don't want to be forking out load's more on juice I'm getting around 34 mpg at the mo driving sensibly but i don't expect great mpg when giving it some beanz !!!!

emailed james my orig map and he emailed me two modified ones back for a small fee.

no probs at all :)

why worry about warranty???

just buy a programmer and re-flash when its service time.

My MPG has not changed, some people have said their MPG improves but Im not sure how. The temptation to put your foot down more often normally cancels any improved MPG. Although most people do say MPG does improve due to more torque / bhp = less gear changes e.g. went to overtake this morning, was fine in 5th as opposed to dropping down to 4th or 3rd..

The remap shouldnt be visable to any Skoda dealer, if they reset your ECU James at chipboost will reload the remap free of charge.. Id say go for it...

Did you change anything on the engine before the remap. jadester?

Hi Liverpool-lad (I like the name)

Noop, all as standard, I have been advised it may be worth while upgrading dump valve with maybe a Bailey or Forge, but to be honest I dont want any big Pssssshhh when I change gear.. I also dont plan to drive like a loony all the time, just nice to have that little extra.. comes in handy when that type R thinks he's past you in a flash.... : - )

Any advice on where to buy it? How much does it cost aprox?

How dificult and how risky it is to re-flash the ecu?

cheers:thumbup:
