hard work

Featured Replies

hi i have a l and k skoda should have bought one ages ago. any way my problem is that i like to do some of the simple jobs myself. having experiance in the motor trade i consider myself to be ok. so i changed the front pads no problem.

went to do the rear pads thats when the problem started. i couldnt get the caliper to retract far enough to get the new pads in. so i decided to phone my skoda dealer. they were busy but said they would get someone to phone me back.

well im still waiting so i phoned a mechanic friend who said that i needed to screw the caliper piston back so i did for 15 minutes sorted. moved onto the drivers side not a cat in hells chance i had started at about 1.30pm it was nearly 5pm and i had to leave my car without a back wheel on because the piston wouldnt screw back.

i had to phone my friend who agreed to come next day and sort for me.

every car i have had i prefer to do as much work as possible in order to get to no my car

but this time its been hard work i will no for next time what did i miss??????

you need a special tool to wind the caliper in.... with the right tool it takes about 30 seconds

Thanks I Was Told To Use Mole Grips. And Carefull Not To Tear The Rubber Seal. With Out The Special Tool How Do I Get It Back In?

mole grips:D

it sometimes can be done with alternative tooling such as cirlcip pliers, but if you have a really stubborn caliper you really do need the rewind tool.... they aren't expensive, try looking in halfrauds, they normally sell them, about

GSF do a universal one for £10, halfords to the same one for £25
