aux input and ipod to mkII vrs stream unit?

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I've got a mk2 vRS octy hatch and want to wire up a couple of things to it.

I've got the standard Stream unit in there and want to hook an iPod video to it and possibly the speaker output from my TomTom 910.

Anyone got any suggestions as to the best way to do this?

It's the stock Stream, with a changer in the boot. I've never used the changer but it did come "free".

I was thinking of perhaps retrofitting a Skoda MFD2 and then attaching the iPod to the AUX line with a decent dension kit? I'd like the iPod to be able to be controlled by the iPod's own controls rather than the poor way that some cheaper hookups work when simulating a cd changer.

I was pondering using my local Sextons to do the work, but after reading a few user experiences of them I think I'll just do it all myself. :)

As a minor aside, has anyone seen those handy connectors online anywhere that allow you to splice a lead to an existing 12v fuse socket? It's a non-invasive thing that looks like a fuse but has a wire coming out of it and allows you to readily attach secondary equipment. I've hooked up my TT 910 and radar unit to a spare ignition switched socket in the fuse box, but want it a bit tidier.

I too have a TomTom 910, and would be intrested in the answer.

The 910 will interface with bluetooth speakers, but I've yet to find an adapter that'd hook up a bluetooth receiver to an AUX input.

Well here's an interesting shot, looks like the MFD3 is coming out at some point:

Due to appear in the '07 Touran and I presume in the Octy this year?

Wow, I want one already - it looks like Touch Screen and can only hope it will be based on DVD maps !

Not sure I like the fact the On/Off Symbol spins with the volume control (unless its been popped in place incorrectly)

Yeah looks like touchscreen, and definitely MP3 based :)

Oh and apparently that's an SD memory slot at the bottom there.
