HRW and High Level brake light

Now the Fabia (2003 1.2 6v Poverty) is out of warranty a couple of slight problems have arisen:

1. When I turn on the heated rear window I lose all engine power for 4 or 5 seconds and then it "catches" again and I'm off. At idle it seems to behave normally.

2. The outer 3 led's on the high level brake light are permanently on when the ignition is on - braking makes the whole thing light up normally.

Anyone got any clues ? Probably have to go to the dealer but don't want blinding with science.
