If your doing a 1.8T you really need to be changing the hydaulic damper unit that sits under the tensioner. These over time leak and go weak, you then loose the belt tensioner. Make sure you are quoted for one of these as the unit itself is

Had mine done, they said the Vbelt tensioner needed replacing as it was wearing into the cambelt cover.
