cambelt and waterpump.?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

just had a price for a cambelt change on my 2002 oct vrs 62k,now for the cambelt and rollers things its

I think it's fairly well recommended on here to get them done together as it's a known weak point, having plastic blades which are prone to breaking up - can be replaced with an aftermarket metal unit fairly cheaply.

I'll certainly be insisting on a change when my cambelt is due.

Id get it done, but shop around as that price seems quite dear.

Got mine done last Friday

Cam belt + Tensioners etc + Water pump

get it done, water pumps always going, last thing you want to do is get the cam belt done then the water pump go in a couple of weeks and pay twice, the OEM part is about £34.00 exchange..

my vrs going in for timing belt, waterpump.tension change this monday coming! quoted me £347 at derek slack at middlesbrough

Just an FYI chaps, Id pay no more than £250 from an Independant for this work, also mine was done at Alex Lawrie Skoda all in for £280 so it may be best to call around dealers as you could save a good few quid for beer tokens.

local vag specialist done mine for £247.00 all in. that was for the belt ,pully, tensioner, and the damper aswell that some places dont do ,also done the waterpump in that price and a scan for error codes.

he is in colchester if anyones close enough

When considering price, don't forget that Skoda dealers in Europe offer a 12-month warranty on all genuine parts from the date of installation or sale.

i would recommend not getting a standard water pump as they have a plastic impellor which is a bit pants and can either break or simply come away fromt eh brass shaft. for less than the price of a standard pump i got a first line pump which is all metal :)

why they don't fit all metla pumps as standard i don't know

thats exactly the same as my local dealer (chequered flag in attleborough) quoted me for the same work.

Yes I had mine done at a main dealer too Mitchells on the Wirral.

I phoned around both other dealers and independents and Mitchels came out the cheapest at

Where do you get the metal pumps from, then? They won't have them here in France!

the company is called first line that made mine.

I was talking to my local VAG Perfomance Tuning guy and he suggested that it was often the failure of the original plastic waterpump that can cause the failure of the cambelt.

No! I was charged no extra labour for fitting a waterpump that I supplied when I had my cambelt done at DM Kieth Skoda in Huddersfield.

Ask if the labour will increase if you supply the pump, because it shouldn't really considering once the belt is off it's easy.

It is about
