VRS Remap Question

Featured Replies

I had this sent to me by PM and obviously it is better asked as a thread so I've posted it and will send the chap a link back.

That plus as anyone who knows me will know, I'm a complete derv nutter, so probably not best placed to answer questions on the petrol car.:rofl:

Hello' date='

I would be grateful if you could help - have got myself an petrol VRS. Want to get it remapped and have approached a local company who have got a good name (mainly with diesel but they have mapped some MK5 GTi's)

They tell me they take a copy of the files off my ecu and mail them to a company in Germany who then send amended files back to them to be loaded on to my car - they then can adjust profiles to suit my needs.

Everything seems straight forward and pretty normal until they tell me that some ecu/software from 04 had problems (I appreciate that the Vrs did not come about until o5 and so it should not be a problem. However the bells started ringing when he tells me that during the procedure he will put iceblocks around the ecu to prevent overheating - I am thinking WHOA!!! - there goes my warranty and ecu before things have even started. Should I be worried.

Thanks[/quote']

I should obviously point out that skoda do read this site, and also that any remap regardless of how it is done will void all (or at least large parts) of your new car warrenty.

Other than that, if you want to get the VRS remapped, I would suggest using one of the more known tuners, a selection of whom can be found in the adverts and in the partners section.

The Iceblocks thing is a bit extreem, and may just be a case of him being overly cautious, however there really is no real reason for anything to get hot if the device is correctly flashed.

Sounds like Upsolute....

Mr Monkey, I see you have edited your post to remove the PMers name. ;)

To the happy camper, please don't kick off at someone who is trying to help you, it's not a nice way to do things. If you want the info;

a) ask someone who may have experience of what you need to know

B) use the search facility - there is quite a lot on here about modifying petrol RSs

c) just start a thread about your friend wanting some info

It really is that simple.
