Turbo pressure release

Featured Replies

Im not one of these boy racers so dont get me wrong, but i took one of the new vrs petrol turbo jobbies out for a test drive, and was a bit surprised to hear a real lack of pressure realease noise, is there a reason for this?

There isnt really a 'pressure' release noise on any standard VAG petrol turbo engine. The re circ vavles are just that, recirculatiing, instead of dumping the pressure to atmostphere its directed back into the intake.

Was down southend the other week and had a quick butchers at the local dougnut carpark, and this guy with a golf went into the ring, obviously wasnt doin dougnuts but was spinning round a gooden, and all you could hear was him bouncin off the redline and what sounded like a pressure valve goin nuts, what would he have done to it?

He's most likely to have fitted a dump valve

I would have thought its a CAI or an induction kit as this is more open than the standard airbox you can hear the valve operation.

Or it may have an aftermarket atmostpheric valve fitted, or may even be just buggered.

Ah i see, cheers ross and the other guy for the sarcasm.

Forge make what they call a spacer, which fits in between the Turbo and electronic wastegate actuator on the TFSi engine. Simply a noise maker.

The assorted selection of air intakes for this engine also make the noise, I like it :D
