Featured Replies

I'm looking for a used Fabia VRS and wondered what this sounded like on price:-

Red 2004 54 plate, 18000 miles with extended warranty until February 2008.

Service and tyre check done as part of the PDI (any tyres that would need changing in the next 12 months are renewed).

Autotrader are listing two Red vRS with approx 18k for

Hi,

If you don't have a trade in there are some good deals around (Mar plate and new model) I managed to find a private sale (autotrader) immaculate top spec VRS even had IPOD connector, cruise control, mud flps, headlamp protectors, 2nd set of new mats and full auto glym protection, 55 plate 1 year old 8000 miles and 1st service included for £9100.

No trade in, so I guess that gives me a bit more leeway.

I could offer 8,500 and see how close to that they'll come. If not enough I'll just look at another one.

mine is for sale, check out the classifieds on here, '05 plate, still under original manufacturers warranty £8000 (70k..) not modified.

Hi,

Yep - just go through autotrader and the Forum and make a short list and then haggle from there, if you don't have a trade in and are not in a hurry is a buyers market! Also make sure that you get a top spec VRS cruise control and all the extras, if you look at private and trade sales there is no difference in price for these extras so its worth shopping around. If you buy private make sure you get a HP check done by the AA (or similar) it is very cheap and they will pay out up to £10,000 if the information proves to be wrong - also when you ask the seller for all the V5 information if they are suspect they will not go through with the sale. Also if you pay by credit card you are protected. In summary, shop around, private should be about £1500 below trade and you should in todays market obtain around £1000 off the forecourt price without a trade in.

Cheers - thanks for your advice.

What do you mean by 'they'? Thanks

Hi,

Glad you found it useful - I brought mine private after 1 month of searching and found the following used sale;

I've just bought 2 55 plates. One a Nov 05 in silver (for the g/f) with 8k, and a black (mine) Jan 06 with 2.8k for £9.5k each.

Hi,

Was that a private sale?

No, trader. Motorhouse 2000 near Mansfield. Picking them up next week.

Ahh, so you're the chappie that bought it then. Good choice. Tis a nice car, although if you have the money any one of the Golf GTI's they had inside are very nice too.

Didn't want Golf's, a bit big for teaching driving and was after economy. I also wanted two virtually identical cars as I do 25-30k a year whereas my g/f only does about 5k. If we swap 12-18 months into ownership it means in 3 yrs we'll have 2 cars of average mileage to sell and I'll always have an identical back-up should mine be off the road. Just gotta get the He-Man's fitted :D
