Remote locking fault

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 reg Octavia Elegance 1.9 TDI Estate, purchased last October, I love it, and it

Either a boot catch fault or there is water in the wiring loom behind the n/s carpet which is confusing the system making it think the boot is open.

The cdl wont operate if it thinks a door is open.

Many thanks Alfie,

The rear door catch seems very stiff to lock when manually operated, so I guess this may confuse the system when using cdl.

If it is water in the loom, is it likely to be the front n/s carpet or the rear, and is there any easy way to get the carpets out? I have had a quick scan and it looks hard!!

I will check all this out further and when I get a result will post it to everyone.

Mike

Sorry i didnt explain fully, the loom is behind the n/s boot carpet. About mid way up the rear arch you will see a group of connectors. Through the loom runs the pipe for the rear screenwash, this sometimes leaks into the loom.

The carpet just pulls down from the top.

Hi

i have a 2003 1.9tdi elegance estate with the same problem, intermittent central locking and no mirror heater or adjustment control, the problem is the connector to the door control unit fitted to the window motor, condensation or rain gets in and rots the connectors resulting in the above problem. have a look at it first. When the weather gets better i will have a go at replacing it and post some photos of the fix

good luck

Hi

Could not find anything obvious this weekend so took car to a good Auto Electrician, he said the Central Locking Control unit is faulty, he asked the Skoda dealer to sell him a new one, they said they will, but wont give him the access code (so he wont be able to install it).

This seems like a serious bit if restrictive practice if you ask me. Dose anyone know if this is Skoda Official Policy, if so then I am very annoyed by this so would really appreciate any comments or advice.

Thanks

Mike

the symptoms you describe are very similar to what i experienced on my 03 Octy Elegance last summer, and as AcW mentions the problem was a corroded connector on the Control Unit. The unit itself was not faulty, but the dealer had computer diagnosed faulty door locks and / or control unit. So it might be worthwhile having a look.

The fix was simple - fit new wiring loom in drivers door (
