Hope This Was A One Off

Featured Replies

Got into the car this morning and I noticed the driver's side door mirror was aiming lower so I adjusted with the switch the mirror did not move so I looked in the passenger door mirror and that was aiming to the sky??. Went to adjust the left mirror ( the switched fully down to the left mirror position) and the right mirror was moving , I was unable to get a great position for the right mirror so just had the left mirror to look out of. 2 mins down the road decided if the heater for the mirrors were working, flicked the switch for the driver side window to go down and the passenger window went down instead I flicked the passenger window switch and the drivers window went down, at this point I could see a big bill coming my way. Stopped at the garage to get some petrol got back into the car again and everything was ok???. Do you think I need to worry or was it just a gremlin in the electrics.

take care you werent confused, if its the same as the Octy turning it one way moves both mirrors, moving it the other way only adjusts one (cant remember which is which.

Its designed so that if you move the seat you can adjust both mirrors at the same time to suit apparently !

Is the car under warranty? If so, take it to a dealer. If not, wait and see if it happens again.

Thats the way the mirrors work.

First adjust the drivers side one, then the passenger one afterwards, If you do it the other way around it doesnt work because when adjusting the drivers mirror both move. Its like that, so that if you have 2 drivers its simple to get the mirrors right.

Thats the way the mirrors work.

Think the first scenario described is...however, the bit with the driver's mirror moving when the switch is on passenger and vice-versa does sound like an electrical gremlin.

However, I have heard of this (and electric windows) swapping sides temporarily so I would suspect it is just a glitch...

My car is a 1.2 htp 53 reg so it is out of warrenty. The way my switch works is the top setting is to move both mirrors, the middle is the heater and the bottom setting is just to move the left mirror but this morning it was the other way round just like the windows. If this continues how much will this cost me...........but just hoping it was a one off.

Not sure, but wouldn't it just be cheaper to get used to the switch being the "wrong" way round if problems persist? :)
