PAS warning light on dash?

Featured Replies

Over the last month or so, the power steering warning light (the yellow steering wheel incon with an exclamantion mark) sometimes turns on when I start the car.

If I stop the engine and restart, light goes away.

If I drive off with the light still on, the steering is fine, I do have "assistance".

I think it once came on and steering was a bit heavier.

Can there be leaks or could the level need topping up?

To all the techies out there, is this a common thing?

Will check up on manual and have a look this evening if I get home in time for daylight.

Cheers

This happens to me on occasions. I usually ignore it. I did ask about it at major service and they could find nothing wrong with PAS. I have trawled the messages on here and it seems it occurs when the battery is low - which makes sense really as I do a lot of short journeys and the lights are on a lot at the mo.

I have had this problem, check the PAS level first under the battery, get your battery checked Load tested.

if all of these are ok it will more than likely be the PAS yaw sensor.

if car is under waranty get it done by Skoda

if not a chap on ebay sells them for half the cost of the dealer price.
