Rear Electric Windows

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me if the 2007 vRS has rear electric windows if it DOES NOT have a jumbo box. Some websites say it does others say it doesnt.

Pretty sure it does'nt :thumbdwn: . Rear leccy windows only part of the 'Jumbo Pack'.

Yep, Makefish is right it will have a couple of winders in the back.

On this subject, one dear to my heart, some more info.

Went to see the blue vRS in Mitchell's West Kirby showroom this morning. It looks lovely, but is sold, so congratulations if you bought it. It has no maxi dot but does have the jumbo box. I checked to see if it would foul my gear change and it does not in any way!

I went to see a salesperson who was very helpful and courteous to enquire. Firstlly the jumbo can't not be ordered on it's own. Secondly, if I was to order the package at this late stage with my build happening next week it may put things back another month and this could alter the value on my part ex by a couple of hundred. Apparently reaching the end of the quater might have an effect.

The salesperson told me his thoughts on the dual climate saying he felt that it was just a piece of 'Jimmerkry'. and even with the elecs he did not consider it to be worht £450 of my money. Yes there was no problem putting the option on, but given the circumstances and his perception of value for money it was not worth it. Interestingly the salesperson at the other branch of Mitchells made the same comment regarding the dual climate. Truthful verdicts or other agendas??

Mater, you will be able to live without the elec windows, probably, unless you use the back alot or the aesthetic of winders really bugs you that much. You have air con already and perhaps the above critique on dual zone gives some comfort. However, yes I would like that jumbo box....was very comfy. But I ain't paying £450 less some discount for one!

Don't know if these thoughts help, probably not if you were expecting elec windows, but there you go!

Still a brilliant looking car....(in blue or black)!

Marwood, that's my car, hands off! ;)

I concur :D mine has no jumbo, and has windey up windows in the back. Not to bothered as I am sitting in the front holding the big round thing.

Should'nt you be concentrating on the road ;):D

Dodgy, if that was my car I would be seriously pi**ed off!

I would want it out of the showroom, or at the very least locked.

Nah, what's the problem? They're just a tiny local dealer and I've got a great relationship with them. I might give 'em a call to say that I'd prefer it to be locked, but it's not going to get damaged, and if it does, they'll fix it.

Dave.

Dave the car was in no danger and I was only in it for an hour or so......sorry, minute or two:)

It looks stunning mate!

When I went in there were just a few elderly gentlemen getting their cars washed and Steve the manager was keeping an eye on me all the time. I noticed him looking up upon hearing the 'dry scorch' of jacket zip aginst race blue paint.....sorry I am only joking....really I''m messing....sorry hard to resist! :)

But Steve was keeping a close eye on it and was standing only a few feet away all the time....even walked past a few times.

However, not everyone is going to be as respectful as I think I am with cars, my own and other peoples. So, although you are an easy going and generous chap, I can see where dan123 is coming from. Perhaps it should be locked...I had on clean clothes and was not wearing jeans so the seats were safe but someone else from the ranks of the 'great unwashed' could be less careful. At least then Steve would have to open the car before alwoing potential new customers a quick spin....er sorry look! :)

Lovely motor.....when I get mine you can sit in it too, but it wont have the nice jumbo box!

EDIT: Just read this post to my wife. She has had a go at me for daring to make jokes about this kind of thing. As I am a bit sensitive myself....she could have a point there. Sorry. The car is absolutely fine!M

No worries M, I'm pretty laid back, the local dealer has always looked after me and I doubt that Steve would risk my ire by leaving the car at risk. I will call him on Monday (we all know on the Wirral that Michells closes on Sunday).

Dave.

Might take a drive up there later this week with my kids and some sticky sweets:rofl:

only joking.

If you're happy then no problem.

 Reminds me when i went to a BMW dealer with my brother-in-law an my nephew (4), Was looking round the cars in the showroom and noticed the paintwork on some of the cars felt quiet rough  only effected some of the cars:confused:

My nephew had been eating Opel fruits and wipeing his hands on the cars:D

If somebody says to me, look here have the jumbo pack for nothing, there is no way I 'd refuse. I agree totally with the comments on this and another thread running at the moment regarding the way both the dual zone and jumbo, if nothing else, give the interior a much better finish. Rear electric windows are very desirable as well. If I could get my hands on the £450 and not have to put my build right back, I would get them, especially as Dave has them on his car! :)

However, I don't think they are essential. if I go back to when I was pricing the vRS before I went in to try and get a good deal I knew I had to keep my costs down to a minimum. At the time and still is my priority is Metalic paint, followed by 18s. There was no question and still is no question in my mind regarding these options. Maxi dot went on because, I will look at the dash alot and didn't want to have the blank on the lower part of the display. At the time I considered this an extravagance. Baring in mind again< I have never had air con or more than 3 doors before the dual zone and elec rears did not strike me as important. I was however wrong to assume that the jumbo gets in the way of a gear change it does not and is much better than a BMW one.

As I said, yes I'd have the pack and actually feel it would add to my enjoyment of the car, however....not that much more. and the only thing that I really would like to add is Dave's armrest, which I can't cos it wont retro fit and try as I might I couldn't get it out of the car with the simple knife and packet of Opel fruits I had brought with me (only joking! :) )

Having not opted for the jumbo et al, it would be hard for me to start arguing that it is essential....human nature and all that. Equally, if you have forked out the £450 to have it in your car it would be very hard to say the whole shooting match was a bag of sh**e.

Value for money is a subjective thing. Ask any parent who has spent their brass on a Bugaboo pram system.....course it's better than the £500 Silver Cross it does everything better. But how do you measure that better in real terms and without address to the specific needs of the individual owner? A valid argument to choose one brand of car over another too.

I know I'm rambling and I know I am self justifying my own lack of jumbo pack (don't take out of context!) but if I really wanted to beat myself up I'd consider the consiquences of not ordering curtain air bags should I have an accident with the familly in the car.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO RING MITCHELLS SKODA AND INSIST THAT MARWOOD IS GIVEN A JUMBO PACK FRRE OF CHARGE.

Many thanks,

I'll see what I can do :P

I would have liked maxi-dot, I'm a self confessed gadget freek, though. I've just bought a Skoda Sat Nav MFD2 off eBay, so that should quench my gadget requirements for a while :) Just got to have it fitted now, hope the dealer can do it

Takes about 15 - 20 mins to retro fit an MFD2 mate, no need for a dealer, have a look at Stu's octavia guides Octavia-vrs.com as long as you don't have the upgraded factory hi-fi with the additional amp then it's a doddle.

Thanks Fluffmeister (I can't believe I just said that  ), I will have the 2007 model year vRS with the aux jack in the jumbo box, that makes it slightly more problematic to fit. Stu's already given me the link to his site and I've forwarded that onto my dealer who will take a look at it. I'd settle for not having Aux input if it meant having OEM satnav, though.

Hey Tony, the manual would be very gratefully received! I'll also take a look at the new 2007 CDs!

Cheers,

Dave.

It would certainly be interesting to see how many people actually use the dual zone for what it is.

Personally I never touch the passenger side settings, can't see the point really as a car is too small a confined space to have seperate temperatures without any form of segregation. Suppose the system would be ok in a limo with the glass partition and the dual zone operating front & rear not left & right.

tomo2001,

Oddly enough I thought that Dual Zone was about having separate settings for front and rear instead of how this system actually does work. Indeed, the sales person in the dealership was surprised at my assumption, having to correct me.

It does work actually, I played squash the other night and picked my dad up on the way home. I was roasting still but he was cold from standing outside, so he had his side on 22 degrees and I had mine on 'LO'. :)
