Retriving a serial number from within Windows

Featured Replies

I need to retrive the Windows Serial number that was used to install a server, The guy who built them has left and not documented the build and at the moment we cannot rebuild the server without it.

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to run any software on the server iff possible as it is a Live Customer server.

Try a program called SIW...search on google & you'll find it :)

It can read passwords & serial numbers - very powerful bit of freeware. Is Vista compatible, unsure as to Windows Server compatibility.

Cheers, I'll give it ago

There are several programs that can retrive various serial codes from the registry..

Personally ive used a prog called WinKeyFinder..

it also allows the serial to be changed, and can get serials for other products too (office etc)
