New (USED) Vrs!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hopefully picking it up on Wednesday night, i took it for a test drive and fell in love,

Looking at doing a few mods, but nothing too much.

Possibly getting a remap,

A new air intake (what will i need, and how much?) PD 160 is it?

Lowering, what will i look like on standard alloys, what is the optimum lowering height and how much?

Lastly putting on an exhaust, again how much, and what??

What else will I need to do to make the remap work as best as possible?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

Hello and welcome. Not too tech savvy myself, ...but pd160 air intake, which i have is £40 wasted, but i got it just to be sure. £45 front suspension strut bar £45 from Seat dealers has tightened up the front end no end, well worth it. Jabba ARB must have. Remap, leave it a bit till you get used to the VRS OOOmph.

My 2 pence worth.. And enjoy.

What is a jabba arb? Exhaust?

I asked about the air intake as i have heard with the remap it might need more air.

Also I have heard you can get a ittle unit to have total closure from the remote, how much with this cost, if its not too much it would be a cool od to have.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice guys,

What sorts of exhausts do they do for the car, do they make it sound any nicer being a diesel?

Is there any risk to the enginer/gear box if i start adding more power?

Cheers

Jon

Where are you buying the car from and what year and colour is it? Might be someone on here's old one?

Bit of advice with the exhaust why not keep the std item until it fails then replace it what ever you want otherwise you will be scrapping a perfectly fine exhaust at a significant cost.

The exhaust should last over 10 years from new so nothing to worry about

and a after market exhausts will make your car sound like a tractor

Welcome to the land of vRS modding. Its worth checking out Jabbasport and they will be able to do ALL that you want in one go, or a bit at a time depending on the depth of your pocket.

Check out their page for the Fabia vRS here - Jabba Sport - Motor Sport

IMHO the Rear ARB is the BEST value item and the one to go for first; it KILLS the inherant understeer DEAD. As has already been said the standard 16" alloys (with 205/45 tyres) are perfectly good enough; to go to 17" will compromise the ride too much.

If you are desperate for a bit more aural presence the Milltek cat-back exhaust for around £175 will do the trick.

From there, it depends on whether you are going for looks or performance but, again IMHO, a Jabba remap to c. 175bhp or change to Koni FSD shock absorbers would be the next step.

Hope that is enough to digest for now!! Good luck.

What im going to do is a checklist:

1) Jabba ARB

2) Eibach Lowering Springs

3) PD160 Air Intake + Air Filter

4) Engine Remap

5) Front Roll Bar??

6) Exhaust but not an essential

Any thing else?

Also does anyone know anything about the total closure mod?

Cheers

Jon

RE; 2) lowered springs (Eibach recommended) these are fine on their own with standard shock absorbers/dampers.

3) & 6) Do the air filter with the PD 160 intake. You have to take the airbox to bits to fit the 160 intake so may as well put a new filter in at the same time. Proper job!!

Can anyone give me any idea on how much each of the items would cost me, including fitting etc, or could i fit some of them myself?

Thanks

Jon

What im going to do is a checklist:

1) Jabba ARB

£210 plus £30-£45 to fit or DIY

2) Eibach Lowering Springs

£150 plus £150 - £180 to fit

3) PD160 Air Intake + Air Filter

PD160 - £35-£40, Air filter - £35 - easy DIY

4) Engine Remap

£325 - standard to 175bhp, £425 - custom to £180 plus BHP (watch the clutch); Professional only

5) Front Roll Bar??

O.k so far I have my wish list:

1) Jabba ARB -

Check the 'sticky' Fabia thread of Fabia alloys archive - there are plenty of pics of lowered Fabias there.
