Hi All - great site, finally got round to registering...

Last October I handed back my company X Type, took the cash option and brought a (2004) Octavia RS - I've had many strange looks since, but most people just don't know how good these cars are

Welcome to the site.

How does the vRS compare to the X type? These are on my possible list for my next car.

I do think the X Type gets a bad press. Its got a capable chassis, strong and quiet diesel engines, a cracking stereo and as an estate looks pretty good. The part leather sport seats are really uncomfortable though.

If your priority is refined and comfortable A to B motoring, then get an X Type....if you prefer speed and fun when you're driving then get a vRS.

Bottom line is I still look forward to every trip in the vRS, but, despite its strengths, was bored of the X type after about 6 weeks.

I've not driven one, but would a mk 2 vRS be the perfect balance between the two.....
