Finally got the lifter attached to the carbon bonnet

Featured Replies

Well, ever since I've had the CF bonnet, I've had no lifter. Well, as I was off work today I thought I'd see about getting a bracket made up. The company making the brackets for the group buy (eventually ;))have made me up a bracket for me, matching the contours of part of the bonnet. 4 self tappers and lick of paint - all sorted.

The only thing is it will not work with a boot strut - bonnet is too light for it - So at the moment am using an INXX lifter which is only about 38cm long, so my bonnet sits at about neck height when it's open. Now on the hunt for a lifter about 45cm+ long - Must be a weak lifter though, preferably part of a pair. Any ideas?

Have you got any pics of your car with the cf bonnet? (am considering this on my silver furby!)

Its not bare carbon weave if thats what your thinking

Yes, mine is painted. This is the bracket. You can see some of the weave in the shot I think. The bracket works well - 4 self tappers - "just" short enough to go through the first skin of the bonnet, and not touch the skin of the outer edge.

Looks good. I've just found out that the missuz uncle is dabbling in selling carbon fibre body panels, will have to make some enquiries!

Well, this chap in germany is the only one I'm aware of who has a decent fabia bonnet mould. :)
