well the intent of fiddling with the Octy has started... i know i said i wasnt going to touch it but the urge is overwhelming !

so.

this dump valve thingy... which is the best one to go for if i dont want it too loud, too loud being hearing it over the stereo while i'm driving !

plus if i fit one and take the car for a service or warranty am i going to have them hassling me over it being there ?

i'm right in thinking its a good thing to have seeing as it lessons the stress on the turbo during gear changes right?

any dump valve is better than plastic.. none are loud on an octy unless you fit it backwards.

try forge or bailey.

ok, sounds good.

as for forge or bailey does it simply come down to cost or preference?

which do you and most of the other guys use?

Forge will require maintenance while Bailey typically don't.

I think it's pretty much a 50/50 split on who has what....with the odd Hyperboost/Viper.

DV are generally quiet due to venting into the airbox so no worries on noise. Even if you have a CAI or Forge reversed it's not loud enough to be heard over a stereo.

Cost are pretty much the same so I guess it's personal preference.

Whats made you change your mind Nige  . Mine is a Bailey and you know what that sounds like.

It all starts with the DV then before you know it your sitting at Jabbasport waiting to get all that extra power released

I'd not completely agree with that. With an ABD CAI, TIP + Forge 006 DV I get people walking along the side of the road spinning round to see what on earth is coming along! It is LOUD!

True but.....that's outside the car. I don't think you'd be able to hear the DV venting above the stereo.

Unless of course you have the volume down at level 1. ;)

main thing is i dont see my car (looking totally standard) suiting the noise you normally associate with a DV, i know the valves on these recirculate the expelled air back into the intake thus being quieter but you know the "boy racer" image i'm talking about.

the main reason for me thinking about changing the valve is what someone posted on here about the car struggling to go on then off boost through the gears when your wanting to make progress, i know this is due to the turbo having to spool up again once the pressure has dropped off and i know that a DV expells the air faster enabling the turbo to spool up quicker. i see this as being good for the turbo as there isnt the same stresses from the standard setup and in turn would expect this to increase the life of the unit.

If the majority seems to be with the Bailey unit then i'll look at this one, i take it its the Bailey valve Jabba do ? and we get a discount do we not ?

Yep...it's the one that Jabba do...DV30...cost

ok so i know where i need to go and what to ask for etc.

how about this warranty / servicing issue !?

i'm assuming they'll notice the new valve when chaging something like the plugs as the engine cover has to come off.

Swap the old valve over with the after market valve.
